Your Education is Indoctrination, Their Indoctrination is Education.

The Left has one big card to play and that’s moral inversion. The familiar one is “your speech is violence, their violence is speech.” Here’s a new/old one recently getting brushed off.

“Your education is indoctrination, their indoctrination is education.”

“West Point Is Supposed to Educate, Not Indoctrinate.” That’s how a New York Times op-ed from Graham Parsons, a philosophy professor at West Point, takes on the order to stop indoctrinating students.

Parsons announced that he’s resigning because Secretary of Defense Hegseth’s order ending woke indoctrination was undermining West Point (rather than ending woke indoctrination being the actual force undermining West Point)

“Then came the executive order from Mr. Trump on Jan. 27 and Mr. Hegseth’s memo two days later. Mr. Trump’s order prohibited any educational institution operated by the armed forces from ‘promoting, advancing or otherwise inculcating’ certain ‘un-American’ theories, including “gender ideology” and the idea that ‘America’s founding documents are racist or sexist.’”

Mr. Parsons presumably has a problem with not promoting those ideas. Ending indoctrination is apparently the real indoctrination.

“Whatever you think about various controversial ideas — Mr. Hegseth’s memo cited critical race theory and gender ideology — students should engage with them and debate their merits rather than be told they are too dangerous even to be contemplated.”

Are students actually engaging with them? Are they receiving source materials and being encouraged to argue, for example, that men can’t magically become women, or that systemic racism has long since become a myth?

Is a course like this one really promoting multiple perspectives or is it encouraging a one-sided view that America is a bad place? And should West Point really be promoting that view to the military’s future leaders?

PL377: SOCIAL INEQUALITY – Cadets are introduced to several theoretical perspectives intended to explain the structure of social stratification in the United States. The course examines the state of social inequality in the United States, with a focus on social class, integration, mobility, and equality of opportunity. Cadets explore individual and structural perspectives of social inequality. Cadets evaluate social issues, policies, and programs intended to influence social inequality. Throughout the course, cadets discuss the relevance of class, race, ethnicity, and gender on social opportunity and inequality.

This actually is indoctrination. The Trump administration should be hailed for trying to end indoctrination and restore education. But your education is indoctrination, their indoctrination is education.
