Whoopi Abuses Veterans Day, Suggests Hegseth Doesn’t Care About Vets

Nothing was sacred to ABC’s The View if it could be abused to make an attack on some element of the Trump administration, including Veterans Day. During Tuesday’s episode, the liberal ladies sought to commemorate the holiday with their thanks and stories of their veteran family members; but moderator Whoopi Goldberg brought things down when she took a swipe at War Secretary Pete Hegseth to seemingly accuse him, an Army combat veteran, of not caring about those who came home from war.

“So, Joy is out today, hopefully she will be back tomorrow, and it is also Veterans Day today and we want to start by thanking every veteran in this country who has served in our armed forces,” Goldberg announced at the top of the show.

Goldberg chimed in again later in the segment to note how there were times that America didn’t treat veterans well and that America was trying to do a better job. She then invoked Hegseth’s name to scold him as if he wasn’t interested in treating veterans well or didn’t care about them:

GOLDBERG: But our commitment is unwavering to our vets.

THE CAST (in unison): Yes.

GOLDBERG: We know that you are all –

[Applause]

We don’t always treat you as well as we should, we don’t always take care of you the way that we should, but we are — we are committing to trying to do a better job, now. We’re trying to do a better job. You hear me, Pete Hegseth? You hear me?

SUNNY HOSTIN: Yeah. Yeah.

Of course, she and fake Republican Ana Navarro also used the opportunity to push divisive identity politics:

NAVARRO: And by the way that includes the women, that incudes the LGBTQ, that includes all the African Americans and the Latinos who have served.

[Applause]

GOLDBERG: Because if you don’t know the history of our armed forces you don’t know what it — what it did to people who fought for this country, who couldn’t vote in this country. You know? Women fought, black people, Asian people, Spanish people, people of all walks fought for this country when they weren’t sure that the country was going to fight for them.

The ease of which The View was able to abuse Veterans Day made sense when looking back their recent history of attacking America’s service members.

As recently as last month, they claimed the National Guard would be party to an effort by President Trump to steal future elections. They bashed the troops as they expressed skepticism that Trump and the Army shared a birthday. They suggested the Guard and Marines “just follow orders” like the Nazis.

In 2023, they claims America’s service members were “radicalized” terrorists who should be feared and monitored. They also wanted Fox News prosecuted by the Department of Justice for “recruiting domestic terrorists” from America’s military bases.

None of The View cast had served.
