President Donald Trump praised journalist Chuck Todd after Todd credited Trump’s “impact” on the United States.
Todd offered his analysis on Trump’s second term on CBN News on Monday, which caught the president’s eye and prompted him to respond.
“I don’t think we’ve had anybody have this much impact on the country since [President Franklin Delano Roosevelt],” Todd said. “I think culturally, in particular, certainly on how even our politics is conducted in that sense.”

“Look, [Trump] wants to involve himself in everything. FDR involved himself in almost everything.”
Todd cited Trump’s threats to the Washington Commanders to return to the name Redskins, and his calls for the CEO of Intel to resign as examples. According to Todd, the Republican Party of the past would have decried such government involvement.
Trump returned the favor by complimenting Todd in a Truth Social post Tuesday.
“Wow, thank you Chuck. I always said that you were far better than the scum that runs the FAKE NEWS at NBC and, especially, Brian Roberts and ‘Concast,’” Trump wrote.
Trump was referencing NBC News’s parent company, Comcast. The media conglomerate also owns MSNBC, CNBC, NBC Sports, Telemundo, and NBC Local Stations.
“You are a Free Man now. Congratulations – Use your time well!”

Todd started a podcast after he was ousted by NBC News this January after 20 years of working on the network. At the time of his departure, Todd was the moderator of Meet the Press, where he did not shy away from criticizing Trump.
The Washington Examiner reached out to Todd for further comment.
