President Donald Trump stated that the United States cannot provide Ukraine with “all of our weapons” after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky requested Tomahawk missiles to aid in the Russia-Ukraine war.
“We can’t give all of our weapons to Ukraine. We just can’t do that,” Trump said on Fox News. “I have been very good to President Zelensky and to Ukraine. … If we are going to be short, I can’t jeopardize the U.S.”
Zelensky met with Trump on Friday afternoon at the White House. The Ukrainian president floated the idea of exchanging drone technology with the U.S. in exchange for Tomahawk missiles.
However, Trump demurred on providing the missiles, saying, “Hopefully they won’t need it. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get the war over without thinking about Tomahawks.”
“I think we’re fairly close to that,” he said.
Trump last month expressed his support for Ukraine, stating it should “fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form” on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly.

Yet Trump signaled in a Fox News interview on Sunday that Russia has “won” territory when asked whether Russian President Vladimir Putin would be open to ending the war without taking significant property from Ukraine.
“Well, he’s gonna take something. … He’s won certain property,” Trump answered.
