Because their worldview hinges on a complete denial of human nature, basic biological fact, and economic and sociological reality, Leftists are wedded to a precarious matrix of lies. This commitment requires them to cling to obvious falsehoods even in the face of a perfect storm of common sense.
A stark example of this occurred during a recent exchange between Republican Sen. Josh Hawley of Missouri and Dr. Nisha Verma, an Indian-American OB-GYN and senior medical adviser for Physicians for Reproductive Health based in Atlanta, Georgia. In a U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) hearing on January 14 titled “Protecting Women: Exposing the Dangers of Chemical Abortion Drugs,” focused on the risks of abortion medications, Verma testified in support of one of the drugs’ safety, emphasizing that science and evidence should guide policy over politics.
To test that proposition that science, not politics, should guide policy, Hawley eviscerated her credibility by asking approximately 11 times if men can get pregnant – “This isn’t hard, doctor. Can men get pregnant? Yes or no?” – building on a similar query from Sen. Ashley Moody (R-FL) earlier in the hearing. There is not a single 6-year-old since the beginning of humankind, anywhere in the world, who could not have answered his question correctly and without hesitation. The only human beings unwilling to acknowledge it are woke ideologues, in recent decades in the affluent West, who have been intellectually corrupted by the lies of gender ideology – like Dr. Verma.
She repeatedly resisted answering, declaring that she treats patients with diverse gender identities and smearing Hawley’s yes-or-no framing as politicized and polarizing. In fact, Hawley was merely stating the truth; it was Verma’s framing that was politicized and polarizing. An exasperated Hawley told the room, “It is extraordinary that we are here in a hearing about science and about women – and for the record, it’s women who get pregnant, not men… I just don’t know how we can take you seriously and your claims to be a person of science if you won’t level with us on this basic issue.” He concluded, “Your refusal to recognize women as women and men as men is deeply corrosive to science, to public trust, and yes, to constitutional protections for women as women.”
The back-and-forth went viral because it highlighted tensions between biological definitions of sex and a medical establishment that has been captured by gender ideology.
On January 15, 2026, Rep. Earl “Buddy” Carter (R-GA) sent a letter to the Georgia Composite Medical Board demanding the revocation of Verma’s medical license, calling her responses a rejection of “basic” biology essential to medical practice. This is right and just. No one who denies biological reality should be allowed to practice medicine.
In a similar example, watch Democrat huckster Gavin Newsom in the video below squirm and sputter in response to Daily Wire founder Ben Shapiro’s commonsense assertion that boys cannot become girls. “Yeah, I just, well, uh, I think, uh, for the grace of God. Yeah”:
🚨 BREAKING: Ben Shapiro grills California Governor Gavin Newsom (D) over whether he believes that girls cannot become boys and boys cannot become girls

Newsom is not a true-believing ideologue but a power-hungry narcissist. He doesn’t truly believe or care whether men can become women; he cares only about not alienating his base of true believers in this lie, whose votes he desperately craves. So he cannot afford to concede that Shapiro has science on his side. He cannot counter Shapiro; he can only try to shut down the conversation by saying, “I respect your point of view.” But it’s not simply a point of view; it is biological fact. It is reality. It is truth, and Newsom’s refusal to stand for it is pathetic but predictable, and confirmation that everyone on the Left must conform to a rickety platform of lies, or the whole indefensible house of cards will come down.
On February, 12, 1974, the great Russian dissident Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn released the text of “Live Not by Lies,” a powerful statement of resistance against the Soviet regime. In that statement, he wrote that totalitarianism “demands of us only a submission to lies, a daily participation in deceit—and this suffices as our fealty.” The “simplest, the most accessible key to our liberation,” therefore, is to “resist in the smallest way: Let their rule hold not through me!”
In other words, to break free of the prison of an ideology built on lies, declare the truth. Refuse to participate in the deceit. “For when people renounce lies,” he continued, “lies simply cease to exist,” and “the whole inhuman system will totter and collapse.”
Similarly, when we refuse to participate in the cultural Marxist matrix of lies, such as the claim that the biology of sex is merely a social construct, then the deceit cannot sustain itself except through violence (as is manifesting itself all around us every day). This may not be “an easy choice for the body,” Solzhenitsyn acknowledged, “but the only one for the soul.” Live not by lies, and the Left can never prevail.
