Kamala Harris coming on for her eighth appearance on “The Late Show” on CBS is part of a dreary routine, the Stephen Colbert Democratic Precinct Hall. But when you actually watch the interview and break it down, you can’t help but think: a 12-year-old might ask tougher questions.
They could start with: “Um, there seems to be a lot of Democrats who don’t want you to run again.” Unlike the lack of a primary in 2024, there should be a very competitive primary as Trump is term-limited. He cannot run again.
But the first nitpick is this. Throughout the interview, in three segments, lasting 23 minutes, he kept calling her Vice President Kamala Harris. Not former Vice President. Like he can’t accept there’s a new vice president. The promotional concept was weird. She’s selling a book that was just announced, and it’s not coming out for another seven weeks. But it was the typical toe-kiss.
While it’s still on, the Colbert show is Exhibit A to argue with anyone — Terry Moran, Chuck Todd — who’s trying to say CBS is dead, or that’s it’s “state-run TV.” CBS is still anti-Trump on the air.

What was it like to certify the results on January 6? Did you call Mike Pence?
Are you running for president?
You say the system is broken? (WHEN YOU LOSE)
What do you want readers to take away from your book? What surprised you most in your 2024 campaign?
What was it like for you when Biden dropped out of the race?
Did people tell you before that to Be Prepared to be the nominee?
And finally, the most infuriating one: How much would you like to say I Told You So about your predictions about what Trump would do? It’s all there but the pom-poms. Who needs this narrowcasting?
To me, the most ridiculous part of this was her answer to the I Told You So question, her faux outrage at how Republicans have “capitulated” to Trump. Democrats always expect that everyone inside their party will fall in line. And then Democrats expect every Republican to go Full Cheney-Kinzinger or else they’re all in a suicide cult.
Earth to Kamala: As if Democrats (starting with you) didn’t capitulate to a doddering president and no one could tell Biden he didn’t have the marbles to be president. Who capitulated!?
Does anyone remember Kamala Harris boldly stepping away from Joe Biden, or was she more like a waitress taking orders? The so-called Democrats had no primaries. Who told RFK Jr and Dean Phillips and the New Age guru lady Marianne Williamson to go away get out go pound sand?
All of the potential 2024 contenders – Gavin Newsom, Gretchen Whitmer, Pete Buttigieg, Big Tub Pritzker – were too scared to mount a challenge. Some state parties would allow any Biden opponents to have their names on the ballot! This is the so-called Democratic Party. But guys, you’re not in a People’s Temple cult, because the cult leader has a brain as soft as a burro banana.
