From the very inception of Islam, Muhammad, its founder, declared that he was under Allah’s divine orders to attack the infidels (anyone who is not Muslim) and to set up the true faith by the sword. Muhammad himself fought in nine battles to impose his newfound religion and ordered many more. This is not the kind of religion that seeks to persuade by mere preaching. No, if you don’t convert, they have the right, according to their “holy” book, to put you to death or enslave you. Jihad is a religious war against unbelievers, literally anyone who is not Muslim, with the object of converting them to Islam or subduing all opposition (see Quran 4:76; 2:214; 8:39).
It is the sacred duty of the Muslim nation as a whole to ensure that Islam triumphs over all other religions.
Here are a few more examples from the Quran: The Quran’s Sura 5:33 says about infidels, “They shall be slain or crucified, or have their hands and feet cut off.” Sura 9:5 says, “Slay the infidels wherever you find them … and lie in wait for them … and establish every stratagem (of war against them).” Sura 47:4-9 promises paradise to whoever cuts off the head of an infidel. Of course, there are other verses in the Quran calling for Muslims to live a peaceful life, but the underlying theme in the Quran is that there can never be true peace until everything is submitted to Allah. A religion that indoctrinates its children to hate Jews and that those who are not Muslim are their enemy is not one promoting peace.
Consider the recently foiled attacks in Dearborn, Michigan, or the election of a radical Muslim to mayor of our largest city, or the increased stabbings and killings of Jews and others, or the raping of women and girls by Muslims throughout Europe and the UK, or the October 7 atrocities, or the rallies across our country calling for the death of America. How many more dots do we need before we start connecting them to see the bigger picture that is formed?
Islam is not compatible with the Western world, and it is seeking to overtake our nations from within. I am not the only one warning of this. Here’s an excellent documentary by GBNews on what happens when Muslims take over an American city, and here’s a podcast interviewing Ayaan Hirsi Ali on the growing threat of Islam more broadly.
This is why not only is it a good thing, but it’s vital that President Donald Trump focuses attention on the Nigerian Christian massacre by Islamist groups because everyone else is ignoring it. People were screaming to the skies about the poor residents of Gaza, and the media was covering it wall to wall. All the while, a real genocide, not a manufactured one, has been taking place in Nigeria. Why isn’t anyone talking about it? Why is there no wall-to-wall coverage by the media? Because it’s not the Jews doing it, first of all, and leftists don’t care if Christians die. In fact, they celebrate when Christians, like Charlie Kirk, are murdered for their faith.
Trump is right to label Nigeria “a country of particular concern.” Reverend Franklin Graham praised this decision, saying, “Thank you, President Donald J. Trump, for designating Nigeria as a ‘country of particular concern’ today for religious freedom violations. I am so grateful for a president who cares. It is incomprehensible that some 50,000 Christians have been killed in Nigeria in the last 15 years — murdered, butchered by Islamic extremists. And tragically, these atrocities are also taking place in Sudan and other African countries. Pray for persecuted Christians and their families who are trying to survive.”
Trump is right to warn the Nigerian government that if it fails to protect Christians, the U.S. may go in “guns-a-blazing” and wipe out the Islamic groups that are committing horrible atrocities. He’s right to threaten to pull all monetary aid from Nigeria, and he should. We most certainly should not be sending money to a country where, according to Open Doors International, more Christians are killed for their faith than anywhere else in the world.
There’s an ISIS affiliate that’s active in northeast Nigeria right now, called Islamic State – West Africa Province, or ISWAP. The group’s jihadis are in the process of murdering and enslaving Christian men, women, and children on their way to establishing a new caliphate. Aside from Nigeria, Somalia is also one of the more dangerous places for Christians in the world. They are murdered and beheaded for their faith constantly. Last Good Friday, Islamist militants shot six Christians in the shop where they worked, before torching the shop.
Sudan, a 97% Sunni country where Muslims have dominated the national government since 1956, has seen some of the worst atrocities committed by both sides of the civil conflict in recent years. “The two-year civil war between the Sudanese armed forces (SAF) and the RSF has created what the UN has described as one of the worst humanitarian crises of the 21st century,” The Guardian reports. “More than 150,000 people have been killed, and more than 14 million displaced from their homes. Prosecutors at the International Criminal Court said on Monday that they were collecting evidence of alleged mass killings, rape, and other crimes in El Fasher.“
All of that to say, there’s a rising trend and a pattern forming that is hard to miss. Do not mistake this article for a call to hate Muslims. Far from it! We need to be praying for their salvation and treat them with respect as fellow image bearers. This is a call to raise your awareness that Islamism is spreading rapidly again after Christianity had rebuffed it for a time. It’s not surprising to see that with the decline of Christianity in the West, Islam has started to creep in. But be warned that its intentions are not to assimilate into any other culture or religion. Quite the opposite.
This is also a call to not only stand firm in the Christian faith despite the scary times facing us, but to pray diligently for the persecuted Christians all over the world. Christianity completely contrasts with Islam, as it calls its followers to turn the other cheek, pray for those who persecute you, and love your enemies.
Matthew 5:44 says, “But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you.”
