Democrats still can’t manage to agree on a takeaway from the 2028 election (except that it’s Biden’s fault) but you would think that they would at least move away from not only their past enthusiasm for having men in dresses take over women’s sports, but from the two actual candidates who tanked in 2024.
And yet, at least in polls, Kamala remains the prospective frontrunner and few Dems or campaign books dare to criticize despite a completely broken campaign that got every possible thing wrong.
Then there’s Gov. Tim Walz, currently barnstorming Democrat conventions with his fake midwestern teacher shtick, whose performance on the 2024 campaign trail should have relegated him to serving as Michael Moore’s dumber sidekick. The Harris-Walz campaign catastrophically lost exactly the voters that Walz was supposed to deliver. He blew his debate with J.D. Vance and appealed to no one. At all.
That’s without even mentioning the fact that his entire campaign bio proved to be fake.
And yet here he is back again. Walz popped up at Dem conventions in South Carolina and California with a message best described as enthusiastic, angry and completely incoherent. Instead of pointing to a direction, he’s pushing more of the fake teacher/coach routine, and pulling out lines like urging his party to be “meaner” to Trump (an exciting idea they haven’t tried before) because he’s a mean “bully”.
Could Dems be stupid enough to go for this one? The thing about Walz’s shtick is just how hackneyed it is. He’s always been a wealthy urban liberal’s idea of a midwestern small town progressive. The only reason he doesn’t come off as fake to them is because their idea of ‘flyover country’ is so cliched that the Walz minstrel show plays as well as anything else. But whom does Walz actually appeal to? No one.
Dems wonder how they could have ever let Biden run in 2024, but they let Kamala and Walz run, and they’re tipping toward letting them run again. And this time they won’t be able to blame senility.
Walz is like Biden without the senility.
