Since 1979, the Iranian ayatollahs have ruled that nation with an iron fist. From the beginning, America and Israel were the most hated nations. Every week, Muslim radicals spill out of mosques across Iran chanting “Death to Israel!” and “Death to America!” When your enemy tells you who they are, believe them.
Lebanon, a beautiful country, was slowly taken over by the terrorist group Hezbollah. The Lebanese government and military lost control over most of the country. Then came embassy bombings and the Marine barracks attack in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. Marines. Hezbollah, Hamas in Gaza, and the Houthis in Yemen all receive most of their funding from Iran.
Iranian proxies in Iraq were responsible for the deaths of over 600 American service members and wounding hundreds more. Iran’s terror tentacles reach across most of the Middle East, constantly threatening the U.S. and Israel. Weak policies by American presidents only emboldened them, resulting in the bloody attack on Israel by Hamas on October 7, 2023. Joe Biden dragged his feet in tepid support for Israel.
Then Donald Trump became president once again. His support for our only democratic ally in the Middle East has been unshakeable.
Last June, Israel launched Operation Roaring Lion, decimating Iran’s air defenses, missile-launching capability, and the leadership of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
Trump followed that up with one of the boldest operations ever: Operation Midnight Hammer. Iran’s nuclear sites and storage facilities were obliterated. You would have thought the Iranian leadership would get the message.
This was followed by Operation Absolute Resolve, during which American forces destroyed Venezuelan air defenses and snatched illegitimate President Nicolás Maduro out of his palace in his pajamas. Ayatollah Ali Khamenei still didn’t get the message.
Then came Operation Epic Fury, which is ongoing. This bold move will be talked about for years to come. Will this joint U.S.-Israel operation finally free the Iranian people from decades of oppression under the radical ayatollahs? Only time will tell.
For years, Iran was the untouchable giant in the Middle East. It was too powerful to mess with, with most believing a regional war would break out. So, Democrat presidents tried bribery to make nuclear deals using billions of taxpayer dollars. Did the bribery work? Absolutely not!
During his first term, Trump showed terrorist leaders that they threatened America at the risk of their lives. Now, President Trump is showing that giants can still be slain. The list of terminated terrorist leaders is long and impressive.
It is always worth taking risks for a righteous cause. David took great risks in going on the battlefield to face down Goliath. His reward was a wife and a promotion, eventually becoming king! Only history and the passing of time will tell us what Trump’s reward will be. But from my perspective, he took this bold action not for a reward but because he loves America and loves peace.
I had been praying for this operation for weeks now. I knew it had to come. The people of Iran were told that help was on the way. Whether you love Trump or hate him, when he gives you his word, you can count on him keeping it.
My prayer, and I hope yours too, is for our sons and daughters who are in harm’s way. Pray for their safety and success.
Pray that the giant of radical Islam in Iran can be defeated.
Pray for the Christian church in Iran. Pray it will rise up and let the Light of Christ shine, giving the Iranian people hope.
