Peter Alexander, NBC’s chief White House correspondent and co-anchor of the Saturday edition of Today, is leaving that network supposedly in order to spend more time with his family and children. Do you believe that? No? And neither does pretty much everybody else.
In fact the New York Post‘s Page Six revealed what is likely the real reason in the Saturday headline of the story by Carlos Greer announcing Alexander’s split from his network: “Peter Alexander is leaving NBC after years of being passed over for top anchor jobs: source.”
Peter Alexander is saying sayonara to NBC News after nearly 22 years — including 15 years on the White House beat and eight as co-anchor of “Saturday Today,” we hear.
The reason he’s leaving is a familiar one for TV anchors: The rigorous grind of 6-7 day workweeks has left him longing to spend more time with his family and young children, according to our source.
And while that may be true, we’re told Alexander was also sick of being overlooked for top jobs at the network’s more prestigious shows like “Today” and “Nightly News.”
“He’d be the first to say he’s had ambitions for the top anchor jobs, and with all of those spots recently filled, he’s going to try something new,” the source said.
As for spending more time with his family, that excuse was completely blown by the not very surprising revelation of his new gig:
Alexander’s last day will be on Saturday. We hear he’s going to settle for an 11 a.m. weekday anchor gig at MS Now, formerly MSNBC, the network NBC separated from after restructuring in 2025.
MS NOW. Nowadays leftist network journalists who unconvincingly try pretending to be merely objective reporters often leave that pretense behind and reveal themselves fully to be the partisan hacks they really are on either MS NOW or as podcasters.
When Alexander’s full leftist bias is revealed on MS NOW it will come as absolutely no surprise to anyone who is at all familiar with him. One example of his obvious bias happened at the first press conference of President Trump’s second term when Alexander seemed to not consider ILLEGALLY crossing the border as a crime worthy of deportation and that anyone doing so has a free pass to remain in the USA as long as they don’t commit a violent crime:
NBC’s @PeterAlexander: “Karoline, very quickly just following up on the question on immigration first. President Trump, during the course of the campaign in 2024, said the following about illegal immigration. He said “they’re going back home where they belong, and we start with… pic.twitter.com/TSN6MuOb3U

In sharp contrast to the way Peter Alexander interrogated Trump administration officials or other conservative sources, are the softball interviews he conducts with Democrats and liberals such as this series of soft pitches to Kamala Harris during the 2024 election campaign:
Peter Alexander was so obviously partisan as to even defend the lawfare against President Trump when Joe Biden was in the White House:
“Let me also explain this one.” @RepDonaldsPress to @MeetThePress host @PeterAlexander who asserted: “To be clear, Joe Biden, there is no evidence he had anything to do with this case…Why is it appropriate for Donald Trump to call for prosecuting his political opponents?” #MTP pic.twitter.com/fa7TfYM57m

And since Peter Alexander won’t even need to pretend to be objective at MSNOW, we will soon be presented with his inner leftist sans filters.
