Young women love Zohran Mamdani in part because they don’t have husbands to love. The doting devotion young women have traditionally bestowed upon their spouses and families has been redirected.
As marriage rates have declined among young people, their love and attention have been diverted to social causes. Young women are more passionate than ever about abortion, so-called social justice, and other Democrat pet projects. With the election of Zohran Mamdani to be mayor of New York City, their leftism now has a face and a name.
Mamdani couldn’t have won his race without the help of 18- to 29-year-old women. Eighty-four percent of them voted for the trendy communist, compared to the 64 percent of young men who voted for him. Exit polling showed that young women also helped pull Democrat candidates such as Mikie Sherrill and Abigail Spanberger across the finish line in their gubernatorial races.
Left-wing politics are predatory. Democrats make emotional arguments — about “empathy,” “equity,” contrived “rights,” and “safety” — which largely appeal to a notoriously emotional demographic. In fact, Democrat leaders want the government to fill a husband-like role, making their constituents dependents of the state — and they’ve been working toward it for years. Remember former President Barack Obama’s “Life of Julia” campaign in 2012, for instance. Playing on female anxieties about college, health insurance, motherhood, and career, Democrats made women feel vulnerable and presented the government as a sort of benevolent husband for every point in “Julia’s” life. Compared to Mamdani’s radical communist agenda, Obama’s vision feels tame, but it offered Democrats a playbook for targeting young women.
Conservative logic often takes a backseat to left-wing talking points. Abortion advocates cry “my body, my choice” to make young women feel empowered, while simultaneously stripping them of agency and true femininity. Social justice warriors tell them “love is love,” “diversity is strength,” and “silence is violence.” Corporate media post photos of crying illegal aliens facing deportation to show how cruel American border enforcement is. Democrats rely on emotional manipulation to get their base out to vote.
Many of these young women are also crippled by student loan debt. Gen Z has the fastest annual student loan compound interest rate, a whopping 6.72 percent. Almost half of Gen Z has student loan debt. The good careers they were promised from their overpriced colleges aren’t as readily available as they had hoped, either. With a staggering number of entry-level positions being outsourced to foreigners or AI, there is less chance they will earn a salary that chips away at their compounding interest.
After being lied to about living in a fascist, intolerant, sexist society and crushing themselves under a mountain of debt, it’s no surprise that young women are scrambling to alleviate the pain. The number of young women prescribed SSRIs has skyrocketed in recent years, and many of them are in therapy. Young women are conditioned to be sad, angry, and financially unstable.
From here, it’s easy to see why socialism has resurged as an attractive alternative. The feminist movement lied to generations of women, telling them they don’t need marriage, families, and strong men in their lives. Relationships have been turned upside down as the lines between traditionally masculine and feminine roles have blurred. A majority of young women have said they won’t date a man unless he believes in therapy. And over time, the government has filled the void.
Zohran Mamdani is the perfect fresh new face for said government. He is witty, charming, and social media savvy. He’s great at appealing to emotions, with his willingness to publicly cry about his “aunt” showing credulous young women that Mamdani has a sensitive side. His promises of free bus fare and rent stability incentivize women to place their financial futures in his hands. Young women don’t have to worry about their social justice status because Mamdani’s brown skin and Muslim identity signal that he is the most disaffected and is therefore the most tolerant.
The destructive fire of feminism is fueling the Democrat cause. The broader culture no longer encourages girls to play house or take care of their dolls. Teachers, virtue-signaling parents, leftist influencers, and pop culture have conditioned them to believe their feminine instincts are wrong. Their selfish impulses for endless spa days, brunches, and vacations have been labelled “fierce” and “powerful.” They would rather have apartments and pets than houses and families. The “Life of Julia” campaign has become reality for too many young women in 2025.
Having strong male figures is an important part of limiting that damage. Daughters with strong relationships with their fathers are far less likely to abuse substances, have lower rates of teen pregnancy, and are less likely to engage in risky sexual behavior. Married women also report being happier than unmarried women and having more emergency savings and financial stability.
Zohran Mamdani will not be the last communist emerging from the ashes of the Democrat Party in the next few years. He and his socialist comrades are an emotional response to Trump’s MAGA movement, seeking instead to turn every aspect of American life over to the care of the supposedly “empathetic” socialists. Mamdani didn’t need experience or logic to win because he won over the hearts of young women. If feminism isn’t exposed as a toxic, festering injury, it will permanently poison young women.
