Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem will hold a press briefing on Thursday at 11 a.m. regarding immigration enforcement operations in New York City.
Noem will likely face questions about the fatal shooting of a Minnesota woman on Wednesday by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement officer.
NOEM SAYS ICE OFFICER WHO KILLED WOMAN HAD BEEN ‘DRAGED’ IN VEHICLE RAMMING MONTHS BEFORE
Noem said the officer “fired defensive shots” after the woman “weaponized her vehicle against law enforcement.” Many Democrats have rejected the Department of Homeland Security’s assertion, with Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) urging Minnesotans not to “believe this propaganda machine,” referring to DHS’s statement.
DHS scheduled Thursday’s press conference before the Minneapolis shooting occurred. Noem is expected to appear in New York City with local law enforcement officials from Customs and Border Protection, Homeland Security Investigations, and Enforcement and Removal Operations.
