Republicans are just like [pause for effect] Hitler.
How many times have we heard Democrats espouse such historically illiterate nonsense over the years? Of course, Nazis were left-wing socialists who mass murdered millions of people and started a world war that killed tens of millions more, but American left-wing socialists are intent on smearing peaceful American conservatives with the heinous sins of totalitarianism.
In this case, it’s California Governor Gavin Newsom and perennial Texas Loser Beto O’Rourke. The pair chatted on “This Is Gavin Newsom,” the governor’s podcast, to bemoan the Texas GOP’s planned gerrymandering that’s meant to gain the party five more congressional seats. President Donald Trump has pushed it, unabashedly saying he wants to buck history and hold the House in 2026. Redistricting halfway between censuses is unusual, of course, but heavy-handed partisan gerrymandering is how Democrats play the game in numerous states, including California.
Never mind that because Republicans are Nazis.
“I can only imagine the history books written 100 years from now looking at the people of 2025,” O’Rourke opined. “It’s the way, you know, you and I when we were in school, we’re looking at the people in Germany in 1933. That guy’s named chancellor in January of that year. In 53 days, he has destroyed German democracy.”
Professor O’Rourke wasn’t done repurposing history for partisan ends: “The [German] parliament or the congress, their legislature, passed these enabling laws just like the Republicans are doing in Congress today that said anything you want, you go out and do it. And he goes from being this buffoonish, clownish thug who can barely hold power to the undisputed master and dictator of the German people. And I know this s*** doesn’t repeat, but it sure as hell rhymes.”
So, to recap, Democrats gerrymander their way to grossly disproportionate representation in numerous blue states. When Republicans in Texas fight fire with fire, they’re Nazis. And Democrats are responding by … acting like the GOP Nazis.
Newsom and his fellow Democrats released their proposed new map for California on Friday, and it would likely expand their 43-9 congressional advantage to 48-4. For the record, Trump won 38% of the vote in California in 2024. “We anticipate these maps will completely neuter and neutralize what is happening in Texas,” Newsom said.
Newsom is looking for a big feather in his cap for an almost certain presidential run in 2028. He wants to show that he is the best option for fighting and reversing the Trump years. But he has a hard row to hoe.
Veteran political analyst John Fund explains: “California uses an independent redistricting commission — a reform enacted in 2010, by 61 percent of voters, to take the process out of the hands of politicians. Newsom’s plan, therefore, would require the passage of a statewide ballot initiative this fall that asks voters to hand that power back to the Democratic-controlled legislature.” Currently, 64% of Californians want to keep the current system.
Newsom promises to spend millions of dollars to change minds for his “Election Rigging Response Act,” but he’ll have a formidable opponent — former Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who promises to campaign against such a naked power grab. Schwarzenegger is no fan of Trump, either, having endorsed Kamala Harris last year, and he also opposes the Texas plan.
Moreover, just like the Texas Democrats who fled the state rather than represent their constituents, California Democrats will have to “save democracy” by thwarting and undermining it at every turn.
“California’s new maps are being drafted in secret, a sharp contrast with the months-long public deliberations four years ago of the state’s redistricting commission, resulting in the current maps,” reports award-winning California journalist Dan Walters. “Apparently, the new maps will be revealed briefly before the Legislature votes to place them on a November special election ballot. There are no plans to allow them to be modified before adoption.”
Sounds just like the Nazis to me!
Speaking of Nazis, Democrats have also used that label for agents of Immigration and Customs Enforcement. And wouldn’t you know it, but at a Newsom rally in Los Angeles to promote gerrymandering, ICE showed up and nabbed at least one illegal alien.
Newsom was livid. “It’s pretty sick and pathetic,” he told reporters. “They chose the time, manner, and place to send their district director outside right when we’re about to have this press conference. It’s everything you know about Donald Trump’s America … about the authoritarian tendencies of the president of the United States.”
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass (D-Ghana) was even angrier. “There is no way this was a coincidence,” she protested about the ICE raid. “They decided they were gonna come and thumb their nose in front of the governor’s face! Why would you do that? That is unbelievably disrespectful. It’s a provocative act. They’re talking about disorder in Los Angeles, and they are the source of the disorder in Los Angeles.”
Just like the Nazis, she was probably thinking.
Finally, here’s a friendly reminder that California is “home” to roughly two million illegal aliens, unjustly increasing its number of House seats by at least one. That’s why Trump says it’s time for a new census — one that does not count illegals.
