Media Say Mail Voting Is Secure Days After MI Ballot Box Is Stuffed

President Donald Trump announced on Monday that he would work to “get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS.” Democrats and their media allies reflexively attacked the president, insisting that mail-in voting is secure — as if repeating it often enough makes it true.

Colorado Secretary of State Jena Griswold said on CNN that “Mail ballots are secure.” ABC News’ Hannah Demissie dismissed Trump’s claims as “without … evidence” before later conceding fraud does occur, but that it’s “rare” (as if any amount of voter fraud should be tolerated). ABC7 Eyewitness News said Trump “falsely” claimed mail-in ballots “lead to voter fraud.”

MSNBC’s Nicolle Wallace said Trump’s comments are “completely false” and claimed there is “zero evidence” to support his voter fraud claims in U.S. elections.

Self-described independent journalist Terry Moran said there is “zero proof” for Trump’s claims about fraud. “There is no voter fraud of any consequence anywhere in the US,” Moran claimed.

But media mouthpieces should try telling that to voters in Bridgeport, Connecticut, where the “consequence” of voter fraud was an election being overturned. Bridgeport Democrat Mayor Joe Ganim was losing to John Gomes during the September primary by hundreds of votes. But after absentee ballots came flooding in, he won by 251 votes. Footage later emerged that appeared to show two of Ganim’s affiliates “stuffing ballot boxes.” The race was overturned, and a re-do was ordered (which was also plagued by allegations of voter fraud).

Just this month in Hamtramck, Michigan, surveillance video purportedly captured several people — allegedly including Abu Musa, an incumbent city councilman running for reelection — stuffing ballot drop boxes. Video footage purportedly showed two men handling stacks of ballots and placing them into a Hamtramck drop box. A separate video reportedly showed a pickup truck arrive at the same drop box before the driver gets out and shoves stacks of ballots into the box. Michigan election law only permits ballots to be dropped off by the voter himself, a member of the voter’s immediate family, or someone living in the voter’s home.

Notably, Musa won his reelection after receiving 1,129 votes, according to the Daily Mail. According to the outlet, “Of the total 1,129 votes received by Musa, 843 were cast by absentee ballot.”

In Pennsylvania, three members of the Millbourne Council Board were sentenced to prison this summer for preparing fake ballots and stuffing ballot drop boxes. A similar case unfolded in Wisconsin, where hundreds of ballots were allegedly stuffed in a drop box in October 2024, The Federalist’s Matt Kittle reported.

Last year an Alabama Democrat running for a county position was charged with seven felony counts of voter fraud after he allegedly voted “for another voter or falsif[ied] an absentee ballot application or verification document so as to vote absentee and/or willfully aided any person unlawfully to vote an absentee ballot.”

And just months later in December, a man in Texas was sentenced to four years in prison for ballot fraud during the 2020 election. The individual forged mail-in ballot applications using residents’ names and then “had the ballots sent to a Lewisville mail store where he leased a virtual mailbox using fake IDs,” according to the Denton Record-Chronicle.

All of these examples prove what the left so desperately tries to deny: Mail-in ballots and other forms of absentee voting are uniquely vulnerable to abuse and fraud. And for a party that constantly screams about “democracy” and the importance of having your voice heard through a vote, it’s odd that they’d oppose a measure to ensure that elections are fair and have integrity.
