“ Man, once surrendering his reason, has no remaining guard against absurdities the most monstrous, and like a ship without rudder, is the sport of every wind. With such persons, gullibility, which they call faith, takes the helm from the hand of reason and the mind becomes a wreck.” —Thomas Jefferson (1822)
The Democrat Party and its Leftmedia publicists and celebrity entertainers (a distinction without a difference) have spent the last 10 years endeavoring to create a political/media/entertainment empire built on Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS).
They are finding out the hard way that when public opinion changes, and they have dug themselves in too deep to dig out, there are consequences.
To that end, everyone knows the First Law of Holes: “If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.” But for those who have not heeded the First Law, there is a Second Law of Holes: “When you stop digging, you are still in a hole.”
The Demo Party protagonists continue to dig at a furious pace, and the results are in.
As our analyst Douglas Andrews notes regarding the latest voter approval of Democrats: “Normally, when a political party gets its clock cleaned at the ballot box, it goes back to the drawing board. It conducts a postmortem, figures out what went wrong, retools its message to reconnect with the people, and then begins building toward the next election. But there’s nothing normal about today’s Democrat Party…”
The result is evident in the Wall Street Journal’s just-released survey of voters: “The Democratic Party’s image has eroded to its lowest point in more than three decades, according to a new Wall Street Journal poll, with voters seeing Republicans as better at handling most issues that decide elections. The new survey finds that 63% of voters hold an unfavorable view of the Democratic Party — the highest share in Journal polls dating to 1990 and 30 percentage points higher than the 33% who hold a favorable view.”
Regarding all the Leftmedia-driven hand-wringing about some of President Donald Trump’s policies, “Republicans are preferred on most issues that decide elections.”
It’s not like the Demos and their publicists have not had advance warning, even from their own quarters.
There’s an old Southern maxim regarding a person who generally misses the point but occasionally gets something right by chance: “Even a blind squirrel finds an acorn now and then.” It is sometimes also said, “Even a stopped clock is right twice a day.” But when it comes to the current generation of Demo leaders, getting it right even once a day is far beyond their capacity.
One of those warnings came a month after Donald Trump’s reelection, when most of the MSM Demos were in full TDS decompensation mode. I heard an interview excerpt that I had to replay twice to make sure I heard it correctly, and the message is more relevant today than it was then.
Former CNN political reporter Chris Cillizza, a Demo partisan, was interviewing CNN commentator Van Jones, a leftist former senior adviser to Barack Obama. Cillizza asked Jones how Trump “cracked the code,” how he could win an election while avoiding interviews with legacy media outlets.
Specifically, Cillizza asked: “How the hell did Donald Trump figure out that the mainstream media is the fringe and the fringe is now the mainstream? The 78-year-old guy who doesn’t even have a computer and still, like, writes handwritten notes? How did he become the guy who cracked the code?”
That question itself is a clear acknowledgement of how much power and influence mainstream media outlets exercise to shape public opinion — or once did.
Cillizza was just mystified how Trump succeeded while avoiding ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, MSNBC, NPR, The New York Times, The Washington Post, et al., opting instead for brilliant appearances with folks like the nation’s most popular podcaster, Joe Rogan, who also hosted JD Vance just before the election. Ultimately, Rogan, who certainly would not be described as a mainstream conservative, endorsed the Trump/Vance ticket.
Van Jones responded to Cillizza with a momentary insight that was shockingly true:
“It’s the movement. … The problem is you have a framework in your mind, ‘How could Donald Trump, how could Donald Trump, how could Donald Trump’? Guys, can we cut it out? Donald Trump is not an idiot. Donald Trump, let me just be very clear. Donald Trump is smarter than me, you, and all the critics. You know how I know? Because he has the White House, the Senate, the House, the Supreme Court, the popular vote. He has a massive media ecosystem, bigger than the mainstream, built around him, and for him, and a religious fervor in a political movement around him.”
He added: “This dude is a phenomenon. He is the most powerful human on earth and in our lifetime. And we’re still saying, ‘Well, how is this guy doing it?’ We look like idiots. The Democrats’ strategy of hostility toward Mr. Trump and contempt for his supporters is just a losing formula. We’re the idiots.”
Jones concluded: “We lost. So we have to go back in the locker room, and we have to sit down and figure out how in the hell did we get beat. And when you look at it closely, it’s the arrogance, it’s the elitism, it’s not respecting people, it’s not listening to people.”
Yeah, I had to replay that twice … because his assessment is timeless, despite the fact that it fell on deaf ears.
Jones understands the revitalized Trump 2.0 “phenomenon” better than virtually any Democrat, and even some Republicans. And he is right about all of them looking “like idiots.”
Trump does not need the MSM to win.

That is precisely why Trump, the day he returned to office, was able to launch his 100 days of shock and awe, leaving Demos flat-footed by the blizzard of his executive orders and actions, as well as by his cabinet-level stable of disruptors. And he let them know: “We’ve just gotten started. You haven’t even seen anything yet.”
It was not the first time that Jones, as a black man, has broken with the leftist white Demo orthodoxy, especially as it regards Hillary Clinton.
On CNN in May 2020, in reference to the case involving Christian Cooper, who was falsely accused of threatening the life of the unrelated Amy Cooper in New York, Jones declared: “It’s not the racist white person who is in the Ku Klux Klan that we have to worry about. It’s the white liberal Hillary Clinton supporter walking her dog in Central Park who would tell you right now, you know, people like that — ‘Oh, I don’t see race, race is no big deal to me, I see us all as the same, I give to charities.’ But the minute she sees a black man who she does not respect or who she has a slight thought against, she weaponized race like she had been trained by the Aryan Nation.”
Recently, after CNN’s Jake Tapper, in order to sell his bogus book, pretended he and the entire mainstream media could not see what anyone with an IQ equal to their age could clearly see — the overwhelming evidence of Joe Biden’s rapid cognitive decline — Jones said that Demos need to apologize. He insisted: “Before we get out here and start trying to tell people why they should like us, we need to look in the mirror, reorganize ourselves, get bad people and bad ideas out of the way, and then we will be able to come forward in the midterm. Right now, we need to apologize to the American people that we were part of something that wasn’t on the up and up.”
He added that it was “very, very clear there are people who knew and said nothing,” concluding: “And that is a crime against this Republic. I think the Democrats are going to pay for a long time for being a part of what is now being revealed to be a massive cover-up.”
Indeed, and since my IQ is ever so slightly above my age, in October 2022 I stepped out of line way ahead of the crowd and declared, “Biden Will (NOT) Be the Demo Nominee in 2024.” Now, we all want to know, “Who Were Biden’s Autopen Puppeteers?” Who was really calling the shots?
Now, to be sure, Jones is a radical leftist, but it does not surprise me that he would have a lucid thought now and then. He is a fellow Tennessean, though a flatlander from West Tennessee, and a UT (Martin) graduate. Apparently, his law degree from Yale led him down a dark path.
After Yale, Jones moved to San Francisco, where he says he was further “radicalized” by the high-speed pursuit and arrest of drug thug Rodney King — and became a communist. Of course, that 1991 incident, and the violence that followed, created the template for Demo race-hustler riots in the ensuing years, including after the police confrontation with drug thug Michael Brown in 2014 and with drug thug George Floyd in 2020, the latter leading to the Demos’ “Summer of Rage riots.
Jones was all in for those Demo race-bait hustles.
He also bought into the whole Jussie Smollett hate hoax. After Smollett was convicted for orchestrating the hoax (later overturned, of course — it was Chicago), Jones absurdly compared this clown to baseball great Jackie Robinson and claimed, even more absurdly, “This is the fall of an icon, and I don’t think people understand how important he has been in the black community.”
That being said, he occasionally manages to find an acorn!
For the record, there are a couple of other leftists who have been screaming from the hilltops that Demos need to change course.
Comedic late-show leftist Bill Maher’s programs often include segments of blazing criticism of Demos and the cultural Left. Maher was subject to endless rebuke by his leftist legions for actually meeting with Trump. Of that visit, he had favorable conclusions: “I voted for Clinton and Obama, but I would never feel comfortable talking to them the way I was able to talk to Donald Trump. … I feel it’s emblematic of why the Democrats are so unpopular these days. … I’ve had so many conversations with prominent people who were much less connected — people who don’t look you in the eye, people who don’t really listen because they just want to get to their next thing. … Everything I’ve ever not liked about him was … absent.”

And the “Ragin’ Cajun,” James Carville, lead strategist for Bill Clinton, recently concluded that Demos lost last year because they have become the party of the elite and have ignored working-class Americans: “Democrats acted like these people didn’t exist all right? … We acted like working-class, particularly working-class non-college whites were not part of our too-cool-for-school group.”
Of the Demos’ “level of jackassery,” Carville, who is not as “refined” as Van Jones, said, “It’s like there’s a plant somewhere in ‘progressive’ America that just sees how many jackass stupid things that they can embrace. It’s stunningly stupid.” He concluded: “All of the Washington-based Democrats farting around, going to wine and cheese parties, and talking about how misogynistic the race was — get your ass out of Washington, and go work on a 2026 campaign and do penance to make up for your [GD] arrogance and stupidity. … We told you this identity s**t was [a] disaster. We told you to get out in front of public safety issues. You didn’t.”
Jones, Maher, and Carville are all spot on in their assessments, but the Democrats are too deep in their rat hole to hear it.
Now that the Leftmedia collusion with the Obama/Clinton regime and their “Grand Conspiracy” cabal to fabricate the whole Trump/Russia charade is being fully exposed, at the same time Trump continues to chalk up major policy wins like his recent trade deal with the EU, Democrats are finding themselves so deep in a hole they can barely see daylight.
While the list of “10 Things More Popular Than Democrats” compiled by our friends at the Babylon Bee is satire, it’s proving more true than not.
