“Government … should be formed to secure and to enlarge the exercise of the natural rights of its members; and every government, which has not this in view, as its principal object, is not a government of the legitimate kind.” —James Wilson (1791)
Some of the most strident political rhetoric of late has been about one of the most strident political hacks, Zohran Mamdani, who won the Demo primary in New York City in June.
Now, given that NYC is our nation’s largest city, candidates there are going to be noticed. But what makes Mamdani most noticeable is that, more than three decades after the collapse of the Soviet Union, the Socialist Democrat Party’s legions of “useful idiots” might elect an avowed communist mayor of New York.
Oh, and there is another factor: as podcaster Isabel Brown observed, “Imagine going back in time to September 12, 2001, and telling New Yorkers they’d eventually go on to elect a Muslim … mayor of the city.” Evidently, we neglected to “never forget” the 9/11 Islamist attack.
Of course, all the Leftmedia platforms are identifying Mamdani by his tyrannical ideology’s kinder/gentler name, “socialist,” as popularized in the mainstream political lexicon over the last two decades by leftist icon Sen. Bernie Sanders.
Mamdani is one of Barack Obama’s “fundamentally transforming the United States of America” success stories.
That being said, somehow this got overlooked.
The second-largest city in our nation, Los Angeles, in the largest state, California, is already being lorded over by an ideological communist. That would be Gavin Newsom’s corrupt little troll, Karen Bass, a model of political malfeasance and corruption.
Bass, who was elected LA’s mayor in 2022, became a household name last January as a result of her botched response to the Palisades fire and other suburban wildfires. (Hey, at least she did not ignore a fire victim by pretending to be on the phone with Joe Biden…)
A prominent Angelino, Mel Gibson, had this to say about the situation in his city and state: “Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass have already proven their incompetence and poor leadership during the Los Angeles wildfires. Now, as we experience rampant lawlessness and civil unrest, it’s never been more clear. They’re unable to respond effectively and responsibly during calamity. Whether it’s sheer incompetence or outright malevolence, the reality is stark. California’s in a state of turmoil, and I ask my fellow Angelenos, ‘Why are Gavin Newsom and Karen Bass still in office? How much more of their destructive decision-making masquerading as leadership are we going to tolerate?’ It’s time to take back our community and our state and put the power and the privilege in the hands of competent leaders whose goals are to protect us and the way of life this nation was founded upon and promises to offer. That’s all.”
More recently, Bass’s clown-show partnership with Newsom was elevated when Donald Trump sent in the Marines to restore order in LA after Bass and Newsom fomented riots across the city in response to ICE arrests, defending LA’s sanctuary city status. Trump declared: “If Governor Gavin Newscum, of California, and Mayor Karen Bass, of Los Angeles, can’t do their jobs, which everyone knows they can’t, then the Federal Government will step in and solve the problem, RIOTS & LOOTERS, the way it should be solved!!!”

Bass responded: “It’s a political agenda of invoking fear and terror. No plan other than fear, chaos, and politics. … Just to put the city in its place, to say, ‘We are the federal government, we can roll out troops whenever we choose.’”
Newsom responded: “LA authorities are able to access law enforcement assistance at a moment’s notice. We are in close coordination with the city and county, and there is currently no unmet need.”
Tell that to the riot victims. Turns out, like Trump’s recent temporary deployment of National Guard and federal agents to curb crime in our nation’s Capital, lots of Demo residents are grateful.
So, what about the Bass commie thingy? Well, she’s a commie!
In 2020, then Demo Rep. Bass was being considered as Joe Biden’s running mate before he settled on the cackler, Kamala Harris, so Bass set about revising her historical record.
Bass was (and remains) a disciple of Cuban strongman Fidel Castro. In her formative years, she visited Cuba numerous times, including once in 1973 with the Venceremos Brigade, a Marxist group that promoted solidarity with the Cuban Revolution. She met her first husband, Jesús Lechuga, a leader of the Chicano Movement, on a trip to Cuba.
According to documents acquired by the LA Times in the early 1980s, Bass was a Venceremos Brigade leader who “returned from Cuba to the U.S.A. bringing back propaganda literature.” At the time, Bass insisted that the Brigade was just involved in an “educational project” to “gain closer knowledge of the Cuban people and Cuban society.”
Notably, as a member of the House, Bass made multiple trips to Cuba between 2011 and 2016. In 2015, she was accompanied by Obama’s leftist Secretary of State, John Kerry, and in 2016 was on a delegation with Obama himself — the first Cuba visit by a U.S. president in 88 years.
It is astounding that a then-five-term member of Congress would not have previously been compelled to distance herself from her core beliefs. Oh, wait. It’s California.
Bass, who chaired the leftist Congressional Black Caucus, declared, “I’m not a socialist. I’m not a communist. I’ve belonged to one party my entire life, and that’s the Democratic Party.” By 2020, that was a distinction without a difference. And she even added, “And I’m a Christian.”
Ah, that settles it! Move along; nothing to see here.
In 2016, Rep. Bass declared after Castro’s death: “As Cuba begins nine days of mourning, I wish to express my condolences to the Cuban people and the family of Fidel Castro. The passing of the Comandante en Jefe is a great loss to the people of Cuba. I hope together, our two nations will continue on the new path of support and collaboration with one another, and continue in the new direction of diplomacy.”
But by 2020, she was insisting her perspective had “developed over time” and now she understood that Castro was the dictator of “a brutal regime.” When Cuban-Americans in Florida raised concerns about her “great loss” comment, she said she “would not do that again … would have not put that statement out.” But that did not stop her from eulogizing a Communist Party USA leader in 2017.
In a fawning Atlantic article greasing the skids for a spot on the Biden ticket, she promised, “I didn’t have any illusions that the people in Cuba had the same freedoms I did.”
In an August 2020 “Meet the Press” interview, host Chuck Todd challenged Bass: “Congresswoman, I have to say, you sound a lot tougher on Castro now than you did when you described him as ‘comandante en jefe’ when he died. And then you said something that I found interesting. You said you didn’t quite realize how sensitive folks were in South Florida about this still.”
Bass responded: “I was expressing condolences to the Cuban people, to the people in Cuba, not Cubans around the world. I don’t think that is a toxic expression in California. But let me just say, Chuck, lesson learned. Wouldn’t do that again.”
Being from California, she did not realize that most Americans are not, in fact, communist sympathizers.
In effect, she promised to do a better job of concealing her sympathies! And over the last five years, she and her publicists have done just that. I checked her Wikipedia page this week, and it has been sanitized — it makes no mention of the word “communist.”
Oddly, not a word from Gavin Newsom about his sidekick’s commie record!
