The fan, who identified himself as Michael Weitzel in a video shared to X, was watching a game at Energizer Park, which is home to the St. Louis City SC. Weitzel was then approached by three security officers in the stands, who asked him to leave since the stadium doesn’t want anything political displayed.
“I’m being evicted from the premises because of Donald Trump, because we can’t wear Donald Trump hats in public, and so now I’m being evicted from the premises,” Weitzel said.
A man got kicked out of a @stlCITYsc game last night for wearing a MAGA hat. Security said they don’t allow political paraphernalia. Man then asked security what’s up with the constant pride flags and trans banners at the games. They didn’t like that either. pic.twitter.com/t0ZZ8b1QxF

MLS says on its website that it does not allow signage or images intended for “electioneering, campaigning or advocating for or against any candidate, political party, legislative issue, or government action.”
Prior to being escorted out, Weitzel asked about several flags being waved by other fans, to which officers told him those were “preapproved.” The officers also said the rules against any political displays are enforced equally on all attendees.
Weitzel asked if he could stay at the game if he took the hat off, to which one of the officers said he could. However, someone off-camera said “We’re already past that,” leaving Weitzel no option but to leave the game.

Weitzel also held nothing against the one of the officers escorting him out, saying, “He’s just following the rules.”
As of Sunday evening, the St. Louis City SC’s X account has not mentioned the incident between security and the fan.
