A point that I’ve made again and again is that the Left really does not care about many of the things it claims to care about.
Most of identity politics is a fiction. Unions, abortion and gay rights didn’t exist in many of the Communist countries they admired.
Obsessions with fascism? Their side allied with Hitler and claimed that ‘isms’ could not be defeated. So they’re not ‘anti-fascists’ either.
What does the Left actually care about?
In Maine, Sen. Bernie Sanders and other DSA aligned activists stood behind Graham Platner over his SS tattoo. In New York City, their equivalents went on standing with Zohran Mamdani after his public embrace of Imam Siraj Wahhaj, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Blind Sheikh’s plot to bomb New York City landmarks, despite his previous statement, you know brothers and sisters, you know what the punishment is if a man is found with another man? The Prophet Mohammad said the one who does it and the one whom it is done to, kill them both.”
The Left is standing behind Platner and Mamdani. None of this is going to turn them.

If embracing an imam calling for the actual murder of gays doesn’t disqualify Mamdani, this won’t disqualify Platner.
What would? What are the core positions that the Left really cares about?
1. Socialism
2. Destroying America along with the rest of the civilized world. Like Israel.
If you stand for those two things, the rest is just niceties and they don’t matter. Just ask Platner and Mamdani.
