Kirk was ‘integral’ to GOP gains among Gen Z voters

Washington Examiner’s Tiana Lowe Doescher said Charlie Kirk played a pivotal role in the Republican Party garnering newfound support among younger voters, especially men.

New data indicate the Democratic Party is drastically losing ground on voter registration with young men, dropping 20% among younger white men and 12% among nonwhite men around the same age. The data also describe Gen Z as “the most pro-GOP generation alive.”

Doescher, a commentary writer, said women have had “a model of feminism” over the last 50 years telling them they can “have it all” and succeed in the corporate world while still being wives and mothers. In comparison, she said men haven’t been given this.

“In the vacuum of that, there has been, on the negative end of things, maybe let’s say, Andrew Tate, the online radicalization spaces, Charlie Kirk was speaking to those lost men. He was speaking especially to the 25% of children who are growing up without fathers in their own households, trying to uphold a positive model of masculinity,” Doescher said on Fox Business’s Mornings with Maria Bartiromo, guest-hosted by Cheryl Casone.

“And it’s part of why I think he was so integral in helping bring young voters, creating a permission structure for them to support President [Donald] Trump,” Doescher said.

Doescher also said that “the young kids are not alright” in discussing how 25% of “very liberal” young voters say political violence can be justified. She added that Erika Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow, will continue to reach out to “very liberal young men,” commending her for forgiving her husband’s accused killer.

The president and ex-Trump ally Elon Musk reunited at Kirk’s funeral, where they sat together and shook hands during the memorial. Doescher said one of Kirk’s final messages was how to unify the Republican Party, and Musk “clearly took it to heart.”

The White House’s Rapid Response X account posted footage of Trump and Musk’s handshake online. Eric Trump, the president’s son, shared a photo of the two sitting together on Instagram, writing, “The band is back together!”

Washington Examiner’s Salena Zito also said Kirk played a key role in making inroads between Trump and the younger generation. She said many churches were packed to the brim with attendees on the Sunday after Kirk was killed.
