ICE Agent Ambushed, Assaulted While Arresting Illegal Alien

The “love is love” crowd is turning increasingly hateful — and violent.

On Wednesday, an Immigration & Customs Enforcement agent was ambushed in Minneapolis by two suspects while the officer was trying to apprehend a violent illegal immigrant, the Department of Homeland Security said.

In a statement posted on X, DHS said that at about 6:50 p.m. Minneapolis time federal law enforcement officers were conducting a targeted traffic stop of “an illegal alien from Venezuela who was released into the country by Joe Biden in 2022” when the subject fled in his vehicle and crashed into a parked car.

After a foot chase, an ICE agent caught the man, who began violently assaulting the officer, the DHS report states.

“While the subject and law enforcement were in a struggle on the ground, two subjects came out of a nearby apartment and also attacked the law enforcement officer with a snow shovel and broom handle,” the agency said.

The bad Samaritans, according to DHS, allowed the Venezuelan to get loose to beat the agent with a shovel or a broom stick.

“Fearing for his life and safety as he was being ambushed by three individuals, the officer fired defensive shots to defend his life,” hitting the suspected illegal immigrant in the leg, according to DHS.

The three amigos then ran back into the apartment and barricaded themselves inside, DHS said. They were subsequently taken into custody. As of late Wednesday night, both the Venezuelan national and the ICE agent were being treated at the hospital. Their conditions were not released.

Unlawful Acts

Wednesday’s incident occurred a week after another ICE agent’s fatal shooting of anti-ICE activist and accused domestic terrorist Renee Good. That agent suffered internal bleeding in the torso after the Minneapolis woman accelerated and struck the officer with her vehicle, the Department of Homeland Security told The Federalist on Wednesday. The law enforcement official, Jonathan Ross, shot Good, who died at the scene.

Corporate media headlines, per usual, sung from the same hymnal, leading with a “federal agent shot an immigrant in the leg in Minneapolis … one week after an ICE officer killed Renee Good in the city,” as the New York Times, a liberal content provider, reported the incident.

More details emerged early Thursday morning. Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara urged a large crowd of protesters to leave the area. He was clear: the crowd was “engaging in unlawful acts,” including throwing fireworks at police officers. Law enforcement officials were forced to use tear gas, O’Hara said at a press conference.

“Police are attempting to disperse this unlawful assembly at this time,” the chief said. “I urge anyone that is at the scene to leave immediately. This is already an intense situation and we do not need this to escalate this any further.”

‘Fight ICE Agents in the Streets’

Enter the escalator-in-chief, Minneapolis’ weasely mayor, Jacob Frey, who doubled down on the incendiary rhetoric, blaming Trump and ICE agents for doing their jobs in enforcing the nation’s immigration laws.

“Meanwhile, we have ICE agents throughout the city and throughout our state who, along with Border Patrol, are creating chaos,” Frey said. He called ICE’s operations in Minneapolis an invasion, like the actual invasion American towns and cities have been dealing with thanks to Democrats’ cynical open-border policies. Frey whined about what he asserts is Minneapolis’ inadequate police force (around 600 sworn officers), a problem that defund-the-police-pushing liberals in local government created when “mostly peaceful” protesters were burning down portions of the city in the last wave of manufactured riots.

And Frey said something very curious.

“We are in a position right now where we have residents who are asking the very limited number of police officers that we have to fight ICE agents on the street. To stand by their neighbors,” he said.

Hmmm? Are Minnesota police cooperating in what would clearly be an insurrection? More evidence in support of the president invoking the Insurrection Act of 1807 to end the open rebellion against federal law enforcement.

‘Organized Resistance’

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, whose political career is on life support, quickly jumped in, urging Minnesotans to use their phones to record federal immigration law enforcement. Laughably, the leftist buried under a massive welfare fraud scandal declared that “accountability is coming.”

“We will not have to live like this forever,” Walz said Wednesday in a six-minute address. “Accountability is coming at the voting booth and in court. We will reclaim our communities from Donald Trump. We will reestablish a sense of safety for our neighbors, and we will bring an end to this moment of chaos, confusion and trauma.”

Not a single word about the ICE agent DHS says was ambushed by two suspects and the illegal immigrant they were apparently trying to help escape.

“This attack on another brave member of law enforcement took place while Minnesota’s top leaders, Governor Walz and Mayor Frey, are actively encouraging an organized resistance to ICE and federal law enforcement officers,” DHS said in the statement.

“Their hateful rhetoric and resistance against men and women who are simply trying to do their jobs must end. Federal law enforcement officers are facing a 1,300% increase in assaults against them as they put their lives on the line to arrest criminals and lawbreakers.”
