Ayatollah Khamenei knew he was a target — Israel’s most important — and he took great care not to let his movements be known. He had several places where he believed himself to be secure, including some hideouts built deep underground, under apartment blocks, and of course in his enormous compound in the middle of Tehran. He varied his movements , moving from meetings in one place to meetings in another, and varied, too, the places where he slept. More on how the Israelis tracked him to his final meeting with other senior leaders, held on Saturday morning, the beginning of the Iranian work week, can be found here: “Israel hacked Tehran’s traffic cameras, used AI to plan Khamenei’s assassination – Financial Times,” by Idan Kweller, Jerusalem Post, March 3, 2026:
Israel hacked into Tehran’s traffic cameras in order to surveil the daily life of senior Iranian figures in preparation for Operation Roaring Lion, according to a report by the Financial Times published on Monday.
The report said that Israeli intelligence mapped out a “life pattern” for Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and his security personnel, including travel routes, hours of activity, and the identities of the senior figures who were usually with the late Iranian leader, who was killed in an airstrike on Saturday.
The report also mentions that Israel used artificial intelligence tools, alongside algorithms, to sort through vast amounts of information that was gathered about the Iranian leadership and its movements.
Additionally, the CIA provided another human source to certify the exact location where Khamenei was set to be on the day of his assassination….
Think of how much effort went into this assassination. First, recording Khamenei’s every waking moment, what was his standard routine and what could happen that would break that routine, the exact time of his waking, having breakfast (where? What did he have to eat? Who was there with him?), the route he took to whichever one of his many offices he chose to visit that day, and where he would be meeting with which officials. After years of this, the Israelis had established what the Mossad called a “life pattern” for Khamenei, his security detail, and the senior officials who normally accompanied him.
The Israelis used AI tools and algorithms to sort through all the data about the supreme leader and his associates that had been so laboriously accumulated. The supreme leader’s killing may have been the first assassination in history where AI played an essential role.
The Americans also played a part in Khamenei’s unlamented demise. They had an agent on the inside who confirmed for the Israelis the exact place Khamenei would be on the date selected for his assassination.
Now the supreme leader, as a “martyr,” and despite his advanced age, must now be enjoying his 72 virgins in jannah. And about 85 of the 90 million Iranians are enjoying his removal from their midst. Meanwhile, Mossad and its helpmeet inside Iran working for the CIA are no doubt quietly satisfied that it all went according to plan. The supreme leader, along with his wife, daughter, son-in-law, granddaughter, and forty of Iran’s most senior leaders, both civilian and military, have been blown to smithereens.
