Did you know that it’s federal law not to let illegal aliens out on bond? That they legally have to stay in ICE detention centers until their cases are decided? Many Americans don’t, because previous presidents haven’t upheld this stipulation. Why not? Ostensibly, because there was neither enough money nor enough detention space. Ergo, illegal aliens — particularly under President Joe Biden — who got detained would receive a court date and then be released into the United States interior if they weren’t considered a flight risk. The irony is that most of these released illegals did not show up for their court date and were never to be heard from again.
Enter President Donald Trump. According to The Washington Post:
The Trump administration has declared that immigrants who arrived in the United States illegally are no longer eligible for a bond hearing as they fight deportation proceedings in court, according to documents reviewed by The Washington Post. In a July 8 memo, Todd M. Lyons, acting director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement, told officers that such immigrants should be detained “for the duration of their removal proceedings,” which can take months or years. Lawyers say the policy will apply to millions of immigrants who crossed the U.S.-Mexico border over the past few decades, including under the Biden administration.
“The Biden administration dangerously unleashed millions of unvetted illegal aliens into American communities — and they used many loopholes to do so,” Tricia McLaughlin, a spokeswoman for Homeland Security, told reporters. “President Trump and Secretary [Kristi] Noem are now enforcing this law as it was actually written to keep America safe.”
The Trump administration has worked extremely hard to enforce immigration law and lock down the border. For the past two months, there have been zero illegal immigrants released on parole. However, immigration officials are also having to deal with the millions upon millions of illegals already in the country. Thankfully, the recently signed One Big Beautiful Bill Act addresses the excessive number of illegal aliens already living in the U.S. by setting aside $170 billion for border enforcement and $45 billion for detention spaces.
“As of June 29,” reports The Daily Caller, “just over 57,800 individuals were in ICE detention, according to the latest data from the Transactional Records Access Clearinghouse at Syracuse University. The Trump administration anticipates that an enormous cash infusion will allow the country’s detention capacity to expand to roughly 100,000 beds, allowing room to keep more migrants detained, according to the Brennan Center for Justice.”
President Trump has rightly ensured that there is sufficient funding and detention space to enforce immigration law. Furthermore, Trump has backed up his border policy promises with tangible results. For example, he is currently overtaking President Barack Obama’s monthly average for deportations. (Note: Obama’s record was padded with deportation orders, not necessarily actual deportations.) This is excellent news.
Finally, a note of Leftmedia absurdity: This week, The New York Times had the temerity to publish a guest essay from one of President Biden’s former border advisers. Titled “I Was One of Biden’s Border Advisers. Here’s How to Fix Our Immigration System,” the first line of the essay reads:
The first step in responding to a crisis is to acknowledge it exists. The surge in illegal crossings at our southern border during the first three years of Joe Biden’s presidency was, by any reasonable definition, a crisis. The failure to acknowledge this reality and take timely action to try to resolve it cost Democrats a great deal of trust with American voters and contributed to President Trump’s return to the White House.
It’s amazing how Biden’s former advisers now have great insight and honesty after gaslighting the American people for four years. The responses on X were priceless.

Memo to the Left: Thanks, but no thanks. I think Team Trump has the border well under control.
