The birth of our nation is nearing its 250th anniversary. The Declaration of Independence was ratified by the Continental Congress on July 4, 1776, so next year’s Fourth of July marks 250 years of independence. President Donald Trump wants to make the buildup to this semiquincentennial anniversary special by celebrating American greatness for a year leading up to the big day.
Celebrations are set to begin tomorrow, June 14. This day is also known as Flag Day, or the day our country adopted the Stars and Stripes as the official flag. However, tomorrow is also the Army’s 250th birthday and President Trump’s 79th birthday, as well.
Trump has commissioned a big military parade to celebrate the Army’s birthday and its greatness. According to The Washington Post, “More than two dozen tanks will now roll through D.C., and 50 helicopters will fly overhead. Thousands of troops, many in period costume from past wars, will participate, and several musical acts will perform.”
This parade is reportedly not universally loved by Republicans. Senators Rand Paul (KY) and John Kennedy (LA) are concerned about the event’s $45 million price tag. This is a reasonable concern. However, it’s a big birthday for the U.S. Army.
Apparently, Democrats hate the idea of celebrating our country so much that they wanted to make it an apology tour. Historian James Grossman, head of the American Historical Association, stated: “What I and most professional historians would object to is ‘unapologetic’ history, patriotic or otherwise. To apologize for the harms we have done to others is gracious, generous, and a good learning experience for all of us.”
Anti-racist activists want to push forward the claim that America became a country with its original sin of slavery in 1619, though this claim isn’t getting the desired traction from the rest of the country. So their next solution? Stage a massive protest.
That’s where the California riots enter the political scene. Anti-deportation riots have set Los Angles ablaze. These not-at-all-peaceful riots were so bad that Trump sent the National Guard and Marines in to protect federal buildings.
Now, there will be a massive protest across the nation tomorrow called “No Kings Day.” Protests have been planned in over a thousand cities across the country. Our favorite malcontents are spreading the word. Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams is mobilizing for the cause. American Federation of Teachers (AFT) President Randi Weingarten gave a town hall via Zoom in support of these protests. Oligarchs like Walmart heiress Christy Walton took out protest advertisements in major newspapers. Companies like Indivisible, a Soros-backed rabble-rousing group; several communist organizations; socialist Senator Bernie Sanders; Jewish Voice for Peace, which is a pro-Hamas group; LGBTQ+ groups; and, of course, environmentalists have rallied to the cause with their public support and likely donation dollars.
It’s a leftist omni-cause that was planned for June 14 because the Left is mad Trump is having a big parade for his birthday for the Army.
Trump responded to this planned protest in his typical comedic fashion: “No kings? I don’t feel like a king. I have to go through hell to get stuff approved. … We’re not a kingdom. We’re not a king at all.”

While this leftist temper tantrum is par for the course, it is, in fact, the Democrats who are elevating the temperature. Trump was following the law in Los Angeles. And Trump has every right to celebrate the Army’s 250th birthday/Flag Day and be proud of America as a country. The federal government’s response to the riots in LA is being used as just another excuse for leftists to further protest.
Most of the country is sick and tired of the Left’s tantrums, and “No Kings” is at least paying lip service to peaceful protests. The website’s trainings page asserts: “A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events. Weapons of any kind, including those legally permitted, should not be brought to events.”
However, if the playbook is anything like the 2020 Summer of Rage and what has happened in LA this past week, tomorrow’s protests are likely going to turn into ugly riots. This would be a politically stupid move by the Democrats. Americans are tired of their rantings and their “protests.”
June 14 is only hours away. We pray for the safety of this country as the protests get underway. We pray for the safety of law enforcement who are on the front lines. We pray that the Army celebration goes off without a hitch. And most of all, we pray that tomorrow’s protests are actually peaceful.
