Virginia gubernatorial candidate Winsome Earle-Sears campaigned with the state’s Republican ticket in Prince William on Monday night, where she mostly targeted her opponent on Election Day eve.
Earle-Sears, lieutenant governor candidate John Reid, and incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares all took the stage in the Salisbury Center in Manassas, Virginia, and all made their pitch to voters and supporters present. The gubernatorial candidate is running against Democratic nominee Abigail Spanberger, and said her opponent wants to raise energy costs and “voted for open borders.”
Earle-Sears also condemned Spanberger for not asking Democratic attorney general candidate Jay Jones to drop out after he garnered national attention for text messages he made in 2022.
“She doesn’t ever answer! She smirks, which means she doesn’t care, which means she’s cunning, because she knows that she should’ve told Jay Jones to get out of the race, to get out of the race, and she didn’t! Because she has the backbone of pasta! We cannot have her as governor,” Earle-Sears said.
The Republican candidate also criticized Spanberger for tying herself to former President Joe Biden “when it was politically good to do so.” She added that Spanberger knew Biden was “in cognitive decline,” and said “nothing.”

Gov. Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) joined the Republican ticket on the stage, touting his record and encouraging attendees to vote for his successor. He said Virginia is at a “fork,” and said voters cannot stand in “the middle” and must choose a candidate, recalling how Patrick Henry, a Founding Father and Virginia’s first governor, had encouraged fellow Virginians to stand against England in 1775.
Miyares, like Earle-Sears, targeted Jones in his last pitch to supporters, talking about his texting scandal and how “he’s never prosecuted a case a day in his life.” Miyares recalled the assassination of Charlie Kirk, and encouraged Virginia to lead the nation in rejecting political violence.
Meanwhile, Reid highlighted how his race with state Sen. Ghazala Hashmi, his Democratic opponent, is “tied.” He said his opponent has been absent on the campaign trail, to the point where he debated an artificial intelligence version of her last month.
SPANBERGER SUPPORTERS CONFIDENT JAY JONES WILL WIN DESPITE TEXTING CONTROVERSY
Spanberger spent part of Monday speaking at Virginia Commonwealth University, saying she plans to send “an extraordinary message to the rest of the country” with this election. She added she intends to “crush” Tuesday’s election.
President Donald Trump partook in tele-rallies for both Earle-Sears and New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciattarelli on Monday. He also wrote that voting for the Democratic candidates will lead to “QUADRUPLING OF YOUR ENERGY COST” on Truth Social, and said not voting is “THE SAME AS VOTING FOR A DEMOCRAT.”
