Earlier this week, I covered a weird death wish on the Left — a repeated insistence that those on their side should “be willing to get shot” in defiance of Immigration and Customs Enforcement and other federal law enforcement agencies.
I also noted that these Trump-deranged types are mostly white and well-to-do, and they lack the courage of their own convictions. But that doesn’t mean that others on the lunatic fringe are equally averse to bloodshed. Indeed, two recent episodes in Texas illustrate the deadly seriousness of the Left’s penchant for political violence.
The first of these was a coordinated Independence Day attack outside the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, which houses detained illegals. There, shortly after 10:30 p.m. last Friday, a group of 10 to 12 antifa black-bloc types allegedly tried to ambush and murder ICE agents when they “shot fireworks toward the center and vandalized vehicles and the facility, which included spray painting ‘ICE PIG’ on a car,” according to the Justice Department’s complaint. The goal was to lure the agents out of the building and into their barrage.
When a police officer responded to a 911 call at the scene, he was shot in the neck. Another of the assailants fired some 20-30 rounds at the unarmed ICE officers. One suspect was nabbed while trying to flee in a red Hyundai van, in which police found a revolver, two AR-15s, two Kevlar vests, a ballistic helmet, and a loaded magazine.
These aren’t peaceful protesters. These are attempted murderers. They’re anarchists and insurrectionists — real insurrectionists, not fake insurrectionists like those J6 tourists — and they deserve to be treated as such. They’re a domestic terror organization, and they demand to be treated as such.
When word gets out that our DOJ is under new management and that these thugs are facing lengthy prison sentences, maybe these antifa types will begin to look for an honest line of work. Yeah, right.
The other episode in Texas took place early Monday morning at a Border Patrol annex facility in McAllen. There, an assailant in tactical gear ambushed and opened fire on Border Patrol agents as they arrived for work. Agents and local police engaged the shooter and killed him, but not before he shot and seriously wounded a McAllen police officer.
If you listen closely, you can here the crickets and the tumbleweeds when Democrat politicians are asked to denounce the deadly violence coming from their side.
Here, I’m loath to quote Texas’s own congresswoman Jasmine Crockett, because merely dwelling on her words tends to make all of us just a bit stupider. But here goes: “Violence doesn’t come from Democrats. … [Trump’s attempted assassins] were Trump supporters. … It’s only, like, MAGA that does this.”
She really said this. She really thinks would-be Trump assassins Thomas Crooks and Ryan Routh were both “MAGA” types. And she really is a member of Congress.
Let’s review: In addition to the two above-mentioned attacks on federal agents in Texas, and the two assassination attempts on Donald Trump, leftists also shot up a congressional baseball field and nearly murdered a sitting congressman; looted, burned, murdered, and wreaked general havoc on dozens of American cities during the George Floyd riots; attempted to murder a sitting Supreme Court justice in his home; assassinated a healthcare CEO; firebombed numerous Tesla dealerships; murdered two Israeli embassy staff members; murdered an elderly woman and wounded more than a dozen others in a fire-bombing attack; and have declared war on federal law enforcement officers in our nation’s second-largest city.
But, yeah, “It’s only, like, MAGA that does this.” Sadly, this isn’t the first time Crockett has spewed such stuff, and it won’t be the last. Get a load of her back in May: “[Republicans] try to act like, ‘Oh, political violence — it’s the Democrats and it’s the liberals.’ … Y’all got the white supremacist galore, okay? Like, all of them. You got the Proud Boys. You got the neo-Nazis. … They all align with your side, including the KKK. … Inherently in, like, who you are, y’all are violent. And most of your violence has to do with people that’s got a little bit of melanin. But nevertheless, like, y’all are a violent group. Like, you attract violent actors.”
Next thing we know, the dimwitted Crockett will be quizzing our admirals about the likelihood of Guam tipping over due to all the Marines being stationed there. Or announcing that she’s running for Senate, or for president, or all of the above.
Again, political violence comes almost exclusively from the Left — no matter how much certain dimwitted Democrats try to deny it.
