Actress Jamie Lee Curtis broke down in tears while reflecting on the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, saying that while she found his political views “abhorrent,” she still regarded him as a “man of faith” and condemned the repeated circulation of video showing his death.
Appearing on Marc Maron’s WTF podcast, the 66-year-old actress mistakenly referred to Kirk as “Charlie Crist” before correcting herself.
“I think because of Christ, because of his deep belief,” Curtis explained. “Even though I disagreed with him on almost every point, I believe he was a father, a husband, and a man of faith. I hope in that moment when he died that he felt connected to his faith.”

Kirk, the 31-year-old founder of Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Sept. 10 while speaking at Utah Valley University in Orem, Utah. The murder sparked a 33-hour manhunt that ended with the arrest of 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, who allegedly confessed to the killing in text messages to his transgender partner.
The Halloween star has long been outspoken in her support for the LGBTQ community, particularly her transgender child, Ruby Guest, who came out in 2022. Curtis has referred to her Oscar statuette with they/them pronouns in solidarity, saying life and gender are a “constant metamorphosis.”
Robinson allegedly messaged his live-in transgender partner, Lance Twiggs, to “look under my keyboard” shortly after the shooting, where Twiggs found a note reading: “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk, and I’m going to take it.”
In a series of texts released in court filings, Robinson admitted: “I am, I’m sorry,” when asked if he was responsible. He wrote that he had “planned it for over a week,” left his rifle hidden nearby, and feared his father’s reaction if he lost his grandfather’s gun.
The indictment alleges Twiggs, described by officials as a male transitioning to female, knew of Robinson’s involvement more than 24 hours before his arrest. Law enforcement officials said Twiggs has since turned over the communications and is cooperating.
Curtis used the moment to highlight the psychological toll of constant exposure to violent images, comparing the viral circulation of Kirk’s assassination to the endless replay of the Sept. 11 attacks and the Zapruder film of President John F. Kennedy’s killing.
“As a society, we are bombarded with imagery,” Curtis said during the podcast interview, with her voice breaking. “We don’t know what the long-term impact is of watching over and over and over again the towers coming down, or this man’s execution. I don’t ever want to see that footage.”

Maron agreed, saying he avoided the video because “it diminishes the depth of humanity.”
Curtis added that the saturation of such images may fuel a broader “lack of humanity,” noting that people are becoming “numb” to the horrors they repeatedly consume online.
