This isn’t economics, it’s propaganda.
In the past weeks we’ve gotten a press tour about how the Bureau of Labor Statistics is a serious apolitical organization and how Trump is ‘politicizing’ it by firing its Biden appointee: Erika McEntarfer.
Well the numbers are in. And they’re bad for Biden and the BLS.
Currently in is the largest jobs revision on record as it turns out that some 911,000 jobs supposedly added through March never existed.
That conveniently allowed Biden and then Kamala to run on a great jobs gain that never existed.
Minor problem there.
How do you misplace nearly a million jobs. Well it’s not the first time, but it’s the first time on this scale.
A pattern I have reported on in the past is that the ‘revisions’ whether by BLS or economists tend to negatively ding the excessively optimistic projections for Dem admins while grudgingly giving back the positive numbers for GOP admins.
The pattern is not terribly subtle. The ‘good’ and ‘bad’ projections make headlines while the revisions are quickly forgotten.
