Australian Gun Control: Chanukah Muslim Terrorist Got 6 Weapons Despite ISIS Ties

Australia is one of those places that liberals site as examples of good gun control policy. America, we’re told, should be more like Australia and put a stop to mass shootings with Australian-style gun control.

And yet with all that gun control, a Pakistani Muslim terrorist was able to get hold of six rifles for a mass killing spree at a Chanukah beach party.

He had those weapons despite being tied to ISIS.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese confirmed Naveed Akram first came to ASIO’s attention in October 2019 and was under investigation for a period of six months but there was an assessment he posed no ongoing threat.

The official said Naveed Akram was closely connected to Isaac El Matari, who was arrested that year and later jailed for planning an IS insurgency as the self-declared Australian commander of the terrorist group.

Matari was part of an IS cell with several other Sydney men who have since been convicted of terrorist offences and were also close to Naveed Akram, according to sources with close knowledge of the matter.

Two IS flags were found in their car at Bondi Beach, according to senior officials speaking on condition of anonymity. One flag could be seen in footage from the scene on the bonnet of the car.

Speaking to reporters on Monday morning, NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said Sajid Akram had been a licensed firearms holder for the past 10 years.

“He has six firearms licensed to him. We are satisfied that we have six firearms from the scene yesterday,” he said.

So what happened? Same thing that happened with Omar Matteen, the Muslim terrorist who perpetrated the Pulse nightclub massacre in Orlando. The FBI looked at him, found lots of troubling stuff, and decided to walk away from the investigation because Matteen blamed ‘Islamophobia’.

Had Naveed Akram been spouting right-wing stuff, he would have lost his guns. But since he was spouting Islam stuff, he was left alone because the bar for Islamic terrorism is much higher. So high that most terrorists manage to avoid any kind of government action unless they’re stupid enough to tell an informant in black and white that they’re planning an attack here and now.

Australia doesn’t need gun control. Neither does America. We need Islam control.
