Among the evening newscasts, only PBS covered the House Oversight Committee’s explosive report on its investigation of the Biden administration’s use of the autopen in furtherance of concealing the president’s ongoing cognitive decline. Neither ABC, CBS, nor NBC bothered to cover this explosive story.
Here is the brief in its entirety, as aired on the PBS News Hour on Tuesday, October 28th, 2025:
AMNA NAWAZ: Republican lawmakers released their long-awaited report today on former President Joe Biden’s use of the autopen during his time in The White House. The findings from the House Oversight Committee argue that Biden’s aides covered up his declining health, and that his executive actions should therefore be considered null and void. That includes the pardon of his son, Hunter Biden. They’re calling on U.S. Attorney general Pam Bondi to open a full investigation. The report relies largely on public information and provides no specific instances of illegal activity. Democrats have dismissed the report as a quote: “sham.”
Of course, this is quite the thin gruel. But more substantive than the big fat zero running on the other nightlies. Per Just the News:
The chairman of the powerful House Oversight and Accountability Committee on Tuesday demanded that Attorney General Pam Bondi take steps to invalidate all of Joe Biden’s pardons and executive orders signed by autopen, saying there was ample evidence the former president did not follow the law and was unaware of actions being taken in his name by staff.
“We’ve handed this to Pam Bondi on a silver platter. We’ve done all the heavy lifting,” Rep. James Comer, R-Ky., said in a wide-ranging interview on the Just the News, No Noise television show. “We’ve done the depositions. We’ve combed through the emails. I mean, this is the hard, tedious work of an investigation.
“Now it’s up to her to bring these people in,” he added. “If there’s anything in the report that’s inaccurate, if there’s anything in the deposition that we reported that are mischaracterized, then now here’s your opportunity to try to defend the other position. If not, then the report is 100% accurate, and the pardons need to be declared null and void.”
Amna Nawaz doesn’t say WHY Democrats dismiss the report. The whole purpose of doing this story in a brief is so that it’s checked off and gone quickly. But this doesn’t make those questions go away.
And the facts as laid out in the report provide reasonable individuals a factual basis from which to conclude that it does not seem that President Joe Biden was aware of the scope and breadth of clemencies and executive actions signed in his name. If true, this means that rogue aides at the service of the president perpetuated a massive fraud upon the American people.
Because the pardon power is absolute, we must make certain that it is absolutely wielded by the President of the United States, and no one else. Shame on the commercial broadcast networks for not realizing that en route to suppressing what is, by all accounts, a major scandal.
