You must read this book if you care about America’s children and the future of our nation. This book will upset you. You will be upset about how our school children’s fundamental education is being neglected due to political agendas. You will be dismayed that the future of the nation’s children in government-controlled schools will be much poorer than is what’s needed for them to be successful adults and compete for a good life in America. You will not believe the abysmal environment of America’s public schools due to institutional neglect, political agendas warping what is taught, lack of discipline, and even good common sense about how to teach our children a basic education. Portions of this book will literally make you sick when you realize what too many children have to put up with at the hands of public-school teachers under the thumb of radicals who want more to indoctrinate than teach. You will ask how this happened and what I can do about it. All the questions and answers are in this book.
How did Vicky Manning find out what is going on in the schools in Virginia Beach, VA? She had two children in those schools and was not satisfied that she was getting the straight dope on what her children were being taught and what the conditions were in their environment. So, she did the logical thing and ran for the school board and won despite stiff opposition from political forces who did not want her to win. She served 8 years on the school board in her locale, and her book is a mind-blowing expose of the horrible conditions, environment, and adverse impact on children that she discovered.
As an elected board member of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools, Vicky began to learn about what was going on in these schools. What she learned was devastating and alarming. It did not matter what the subject was, the school environment, scholastic achievement or lack of, the out-of-control discipline conditions, the neglect of education standards, the politicization of the curriculum, the absolute despotic control of school administrators, the power of the unions, and the powerlessness of teachers and parents all became apparent. The more she learned about the situation the worse the situation became not only because of learning of the neglect and abuse that was occurring but also the shocking phenomenon of personal attacks and even threats on her from other members of the school board who wanted to preserve the status quo, the administrations of the schools, and outside elements in the media and government who wanted persecute and silence her from exposing the horrible conditions in the Virginia Beach schools.
Space does not allow a brief review to cover all the abuses and travesties that Vicky uncovered. But here are a few hair-raising examples:
- Children with emotional or even psychiatric conditions being in schools crying or having a fit all day long with no intervention or treatment and just being left alone to their own misery.
- Minors viewing pornography and/or engaging in sexual acts or relations during and after school many times with the knowledge of teachers and administrators that such behavior was happening.
- Minor students with criminal records roaming the halls of school wearing ankle tracking devices so that the police could keep track of them.
- Advocacy of the extreme LGTBQI+ agenda in school and in activities and materials without parental notification and permission.
- Promotion of overt political agendas like Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion, the 1619 project that promotes the notion that our country was founded on racism, and other far left political agendas.
- Union control over the school board, curriculum, and teachers with their anti-America agenda.
All this and more are covered in this devastating book about the Virginia Beach schools. That this is happening in Virginia Beach, a strongly military community with supposedly bedrock American values is a testament to the wily nature of DOE indoctrination from the federal bureaucracy, the influence of unions, and the corruption of the educational establishment nationwide that is in the thrall of Marxist ideology such as Critical Race Theory and DEI.
So, exactly what practices did Virginia Beach schools follow? Virginia Beach schools practice DEI grading. Students who turn in the work late are not penalized. Teachers are not allowed to assign a zero on a paper or homework that is not completed. If a student fails a test, they must be allowed to retake the test. Grading is distorted by low grades being excluded from the averages. Students with a C average can still make the Honor Roll. It’s not just happening his Vicky’s back yard, it is happening everywhere. Vicky reports that the US ranks 26th in higher education. DEI in American education is nationwide. She reports that according to the Nation’s Report Card; U.S. 12th grade students have the following proficiency ratings:
Reading: 37%
Civics: 24%
Geography: 24%
Science: 22%
Writing: 27%
U. S. History: 12%……12%!!
Math: 24%
If the numbers above don’t scare you, nothing will. America cannot survive with a population of undereducated, indoctrinated, lazy young people, the product of what comes out of our government controlled, union-controlled schools.
It is not too late to change things. Buy and read this book! Or, if your library doesn’t carry it, ask them to order it, many will do so at no cost to you. Vicky’s example has inspired many others to join the fight and to get elected to school boards, to attend school board meetings, and to advocate for openness about what is going on in the schools, the elimination of political indoctrination in schools, and for establishing high academic and behavior standards across the board. This book should inspire parents everywhere to look at what is happening in your government-controlled schools. No doubt you will find the same kinds of things. Then, the choice is yours to fight like Vicky did or pull your children out of government schools and put them into private schools or home schools such that real education of your children can take place. For America to survive as envisioned by our founders, the youth of America must get a quality education free of political indoctrination.
