[Order Michael Finch’s new book, A Time to Stand: HERE. Prof. Jason Hill calls it “an aesthetic and political tour de force.”]
All across America, and even in Montreal, Democrats are proclaiming “no kings,” a reference to Donald Trump, when Canada’s actual king is Charles III. As Arthur, king of the Britons (Graham Chapman) explained in the Monty Python classic, “you don’t vote for kings.” That invites a look at Democrats who deployed executive power without a mandate from the masses.
People are free to believe that Joe Biden was elected fair and square, but there’s room for reasonable doubt. During the Covid pandemic, Biden joked that the real president was Dr. Anthony Fauci, who earned a medical degree in 1966 and in 1968 hired on with the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
Fauci’s bio showed no advanced degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry, but in 1984, the NIH made him director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Nobel laureate Kary Mullis, inventor of the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) believed that Fauci did not understand medicine and “should not be in a position like he’s in.” Fauci remained in the post, setting public health policy and funding for medical research, a huge concentration of power.
In 2019, Fauci funded the Wuhan Institute of Virology to conduct gain-of-function research, that makes viruses more lethal and transmissible. Fauci proclaimed that the Covid virus emerged naturally in the wild, and smeared those who saw evidence of a laboratory origin as “conspiracy theorists.” Instead of debating the medical scientists of the Great Barrington Declaration, Fauci launched a “quick and devastating published takedown,” smearing the Harvard, Stanford and Oxford scientists as “fringe epidemiologists.”
Dr. Fauci locked down schools and pushed untested vaccines on children, the least vulnerable group. Fauci’s policies sent seniors from hospitals straight into nursing homes, where many perished. Dr. Fauci told people to wear no mask, one mask, then two masks, mandates from the bureaucrat who claimed to represent science. Dr. Fauci also discouraged family gatherings at Thanksgiving and Christmas. All that, and much more, from a Lysenko figure who never once faced the voters. Neither did one of his acolytes.
Deborah Birx graduated from Houghton College and earned a medical degree at the Penn State. In the US Army from 1980 to 1994, she attained the rank of colonel and served a stint at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center. Birx’s bio showed no advanced degrees in molecular biology or biochemistry but she worked with Dr. Anthony Fauci at NIAID.
Birx led the implementation of CDC’s PEPFAR (President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) programs around the world. That was her ticket to the Covid task force, where her mantra was “silent asymptomatic spread,” endless repeated, with several variations. Dr. Birx spoke of “how many people are asymptomatic and asymptomatically passing the virus on.” With everybody a carrier, the people needed masks, social distancing, lockdowns and so forth. Alex Berenson was on to her from the start.
“Birx is obsessed with asymptomatic transmission the theory that people who are not showing symptoms of illness are very important spreaders of Covid,” which she had to know was untrue. “Birx likes lockdowns and masks,” Berenson noted, “but she loves forced testing of asymptomatic people for Covid.” In effect Queen Deborah was Fauci’s co-regent, hardly the only case of coercion under Biden.
Department of Homeland Security Boss Alejandro Mayorkas, who let in 10 million illegals, named Nina Jancowicz as executive director of the Disinformation Governance Board. Jancowicz was on record that the Hunter Biden laptop was a “Trump campaign product” and Russian influence op.” The anti-Trump hack, a wannabe chanteuse, policed the media and internet for anything less than worshipful of Biden and Fauci, but the Democrats’ disinformation queen did not fool the people.
“Trump snagged victory in the Electoral College, where the contest is officially decided, 312 to 226,” notes Roger Kimball, and Trump prevailed in the popular vote 77,302,580 to 75,017,613. The people elected Trump to seal the border and “remove the millions of illegal immigrants preying on the country.” Enter DC district court judge James Boasberg, once the most powerful legal official in all the land.
As the presiding judge of the secret FISA court, Boasberg authorized surveillance against Trump campaign workers. In his DC post he handled the case of FBI lawyer Kevin Clinesmith, who altered a document to expose Carter Page to surveillance. Boasberg let off this felon with no jail time, in effect, a presidential pardon. After Trump’s 2024 victory, Boasberg acted like he was the winner.
On March 15, President Trump invoked the Alien Enemies Act to deport hundreds of criminal illegals to El Salvador. Boasberg ordered the airplanes to turn around and return the deported criminals. In effect, the D.C. Circuit judge appointed himself president of the United States and director of the Federal Aviation Administration, without confirmation and without ever facing the voters.
The black robe supremacy of Boasberg, the white coat supremacy of Fauci and Birx, and the Disinformation Governance Board of Nina Jancowicz, have no place in a constitutional government accountable to the people. Supreme executive power derives from a mandate from the masses, and the president of the United States is the only government official elected by all the people. For Roger Kimball, the “no kings” mobs are protesting democracy itself. In 2025 moving forward, it’s all about memory against forgetting.
