Jim Antle, the magazine executive editor, brings to life the pages of the Washington Examiner magazine in the show Inside Scoop. Each episode features exclusive insight from the article authors and expert analysis.
“The House majority for Republicans is so small, and midterm elections tend to go against the party that holds the white House, that the Republican House majority could be in danger,” Antle said. “But the Senate majority Republicans currently hold is larger. It’s 53-47, and it would take pretty significant Democratic gains to flip control.”
However, he goes on to explain five key races that could flip the Senate: Maine, North Carolina, Iowa, Ohio, and Texas.
“Democrats want to make the Senate races and the House races a referendum on President Trump, believing that’s the best way to prevail in the midterm elections,” Antle said.
Our cover story this week was a collection of articles taking a look at the Oct. 7, 2023, attack two years later. Antle discusses how Israel continues to battle its enemies near and far with Israel-based writer and attorney, Michael M. Rosen.
Rosen discussed his experience in Israel after the terrorist attacks. He highlights significant military successes and challenges. Israel’s victories include neutralizing Hezbollah, ousting Syrian President Bashar Assad, and degrading Iran’s nuclear program.
“The war is still ongoing,” Rosen said. “There have been, unfortunately, many civilians killed in Gaza, as well. That’s because Hamas embeds itself in the civilian infrastructure, digging tunnels underneath hospitals and mosques, and storing weapons and bases throughout high-rise apartments and everywhere in the strip. They put their own civilians at grave peril, which is itself a terrible war crime. Israel … has been held liable by much of the international community.”
As the conflict in Gaza remains unresolved, 48 Israeli hostages are still missing. Rosen expressed hope for regional peace.
“If things do play out in the way President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu laid out during that press conference earlier this week, I’m actually very optimistic that this could potentially really bring a final end to the fighting,” Rosen said. “Hopefully we can get to a place where we can restore a sense of normalcy that’s been missing in this country for the last two years.”
This week, we take a look at Mia Cathell’s in-depth report on Antifa International, the antifascist cohort helping left-wing militants connect to local antifa cells or operate their own. This organization is one of the international networks providing material support to antifa operatives in the United States by way of its bail fund.

But those financial ties are about to be severed, following President Donald Trump’s declaration that it is a major terrorist organization.
