Here’s an unorthodox lesson in how someone might act if they were a journalist, and confronted with outrageous claims made by a powerful prominent figure. Republican activist and Substack writer Frank Scales confronted Philadelphia District Attorney Larry Krasner at a park, and did a much more professional job than one CNN journalist did in her recent interview with Krasner, in questioning his outrageous claims.
Reportedly, the pair have a history, with Scales having been involved in an interruption of one of Krasner’s recent Town Hall events. Scales video of the park exchange shows Krasner referring to Donald Trump as a fascist, to which Scales responded, “How is Donald Trump a fascist?” After being called “un-American” and “anti-American”, Scales then followed up with the response that most anyone would have, “Why am I un-American?”

Krasner told Scales that he should, “Read the history of World War 2”, to which Scales responded, “What book would you like me to read on World War 2?” Krasner then made his accusation, “I’ll tell you what, put down Mein Kampf and get up a real book.” Of course he wasn’t reading Mein Kampf.
Scales asked if he was being accused of being fascist, and Krasner said, “What I’m telling you is that the guy you admire, Donald Trump, has many supporters, some of whom have talked about what a great book Mein Kampf is.” Next Krasner made a bizarre claim that, “all your little buddies want to take away the vote from women”, which led to a slew of responses that any real journalist would ask in response. “Who wants to take away the vote from women, can you explain how? Can you even explain how…how does President Trump want to take away women’s vote? What does that mean? Can you explain, can you explain?” Can you even explain how…how does President Trump want to take away women’s vote? What does that mean? Can you explain, can you explain?”
I’d never heard of Scales before this, and have no idea if he considers himself a real journalist. But he certainly asked questions in response to the outrageous claims made by DA Krasner in a park, that any serious journalist should ask in a formal setting. That’s more than I can say for CNN’s Kaitlan Collins, who I’m certain would call herself a journalist. Yet in an interview that aired on August 13th on CNN’s The Source with Kaitlan Collins, she sat by and allowed Krasner to claim that President Donald Trump is a dictator, a public safety emergency, with a racist, fascist agenda, who had involvement in a pedophile ring.
Krasner was on to discuss Trump’s deployment of the National Guard to the streets of Washington D.C., The attacks began almost immediately. “President Trump doesn’t like public safety. ..There is no indication that this man is in favor of law abiding behavior or public safety but he is in favor of power, he’s in favor of fascism, he’s in favor of ending democracy.” Of course he uttered the obligatory, “January 6th”. There was no pushback from “journalist” Collins, on any of it.
Trump’s claim that violent crime is an emergency in these cities is a flat-out lie, and a cynical ploy to scare Americans into accommodating his authoritarian ambitions.

When Collins asked about the possibility that Trump might send troops into Philadelphia, he said he’d go to court to stop it and that there is no emergency, Philadelphia is safe and that Trump is the emergency. When Collins pressed him on that one he said, “He’s doing it because he really likes the idea of being a dictator.” And Krasner claimed that Trump’s actions are a distraction. “Let’s not get lost, he doesn’t like public safety, he doesn’t want to give up information on his own involvement in a pedophile ring.” Presumably he’s talking about the Epstein documents. But Krasner didn’t say “possible involvement” or “alleged involvement” he said “involvement.” And of course Collins flunked, and let it go as fact.
How could Collins allow the DA of Philadelphia to claim that the President of the United States is a dictator with a racist, fascist agenda, and involved in a pedophile ring, without pushing back at all? Where was, “Can you explain that? Where is your evidence of that? What are you referring to? And she is not alone, we’ve seen it happen all too often where the left makes claims and they go unchecked. Where was Frank Scales when we needed him? In the park perhaps?
