CBS, NBC Still Touting Kimmel’s ‘Huge’ Return ‘Doubling Down’ on Trump Hate

While they certainly had other things to do (such as comparing President Trump to Richard Nixon for wanting to prosecute James Comey), ABC’s Good Morning America waved goodbye Thursday to the liberal media’s gross canonizing of far-left late-night Jimmy Kimmel for his six-day timeout for his conspiratorial and vile comments about the Charlie Kirk assassination. CBS Mornings and NBC’s Today, however, were still (mostly) on-board.

“Doubling down. Jimmy Kimmel’s new message overnight after President Trump’s threat to sue ABC for putting the late-night host back on the air…The latest on their war of words and the historic ratings just in for Kimmel’s return to TV,” Today co-host Craig Melvin declared in a tease.

In a second tease, correspondent Liz Kreutz hailed Kimmel for “not hold[ing] back going after President Trump.”

Later in cuing up Kreutz, Melvin again highlighted the “historic” ratings with Kreutz explaining it was “his highest ratings in ten years” and insisting “many are praising the way Kimmel has handled the situation, we are now hearing from others who say his remarks didn’t go far enough.”

Kreutz continued to celebrate her fellow Hollywood-based liberal:

In touting the 6.26 million TV viewers and “more than 26 million streams across YouTube and social media,” she framed what got Kimmel in trouble as merely “conservative outrage to comments he made about Charlie Kirk’s alleged shooter” and “pressure from the head of the FCC[.]”

She even rehashed Tuesday’s show: “On Tuesday night, Kimmel got emotional during his return..while delivering a passionate defense of free speech.”

She did, however, include a portion of this Wednesday morning interview on the Fox News Channel from Turning Point USA spokesman Andrew Klovet:

Over on CBS Mornings, there was a modicum of sanity. Sure, co-host and Democrat donor Gayle King was giddy over Kimmel’s “huge” and “amazing ratings” and tens of millions of YouTube views. She even made Kimmel’s far-left rants out to be jokes: “Last night, Kimmel talked about his return, and he was back to his usual form when it came to the political jokes.”

Co-host Tony Dokoupil interjected with said dose of sanity after King reminded viewers of the blackout on ABC stations owned by local TV conglomerates Nexstar and Sinclair:
