One of the signs that the media has become an echo chamber is that it not so much that it relentlessly pushes political propaganda (let’s face it, it always did that to varying degrees), but that it’s increasingly speaking as if the only people listening anymore are Dems.
And that’s mostly true.
So the media is trying to manufacture feel-good stories about the political prospects of Dems for a Dem audience. Before primary season arrives, that means focusing on where the limited action is, special elections.
Now special elections can be a bellwether, but that assumes that there’s any real reason to believe that the seat in question is really contested.
Thus far, the media relentlessly hyped the Dem victory for the Gerry Connolly (Tehran – D) seat in an election they couldn’t possibly lose.
Now on to a Minnesota legislative seat.
Election to fill assassinated Minnesota House member’s seat will decide control of the chamber – AP
Democrat wins special election for seat held by slain Minnesota lawmaker Melissa Hortman – NBC News
There’s zero suspense here. District 34B is a safe Dem seat. They tend to win it by 60-40 post redistricting. On top of that, Hortman was murdered which means they get the sympathy vote.
Despite that, Xp Lee, a completely unappealing candidate, managed to win it only by 60% to 40%.
Truly stunning.
People who get their news from the media will conclude that this was some big accomplishment because people who get their news from the media are know-nothings and know only what the media tells them.
