Majority of Dems Support Socialism, Oppose Capitalism

I remember when Dems complained that calling them socialists was unfair, but they might as well officially change the party name.

A Gallup poll finds that 66% of Dems have a positive view of socialism and only 42% have a positive view of capitalism.

(Independents marginally like capitalism better than socialism.)

Little surprise here really. The Left has been hammering the same message home for generations until it’s reflexive dogma. And the Dems as a party have slid to the Left and no longer have any idea what it is they believe that distinguishes them from the Left.

Having no real identity means that the Left becomes their identity.

Ask them how much they support nationalizing and privatizing businesses and there may be more hedging, or how much they support proposals by Sen. Elizabeth Warren or Kamala Harris to end private medicine and move to a socialized system where you wait 3 months for a CAT scan and it may be another matter, but the socialists won the argument on the Dem side because there’s been no real pushback.

But the flip side is that Dem identification is at a low. A lot of people are no longer identifying with the party and letting the Left have it. That is its own tragedy because we have a two-party system and it would be nice if neither of them were fanatical totalitarian death cults dedicated to enslaving the entire nation.

But sometimes we can’t have that and instead we get enthusiasm for a system that killed millions of people.

Can we stop calling them Democrats now?
