Joy Reid Lunges Into Racist Rant on White People Stealing Black Music Styles

The latest hot clip of former MSNBC host Joy Reid losing her mind came on the podcast The Left Hook with Wajahat Ali. The August 15 episode was titled “How Mediocre White Men and Their Fragility Are Destroying America.”

Joy was wearing a hat with the abbreviation “FDT.” It was especially kooky when the subject was Trump’s takeover of the Kennedy Center and the Kennedy Center Honors.

Donald Trump, he said himself he could never get a Kennedy Center honor – unworthy! But he can get one now. He can steal one because he owns the Kennedy Center. They can’t fix the history they did. Their ancestors made this country into a slave, a slave hell. But they can clean it up now because they got the Smithsonian, they can get rid of all the slavery stuff. They got Prager U, they can lie about the history to the children.

Nobody’s “getting rid of the slavery stuff” at the Smithsonian. Nobody’s going to cancel Jim Crow information. The debate is over how the Left doesn’t want their racial screeds watered down. A Google search of “PragerU lies about history” gets you some of this:

Distorting the history of the Civil Rights movement and related issues: One video argues that “white privilege” is a myth, according to Wikipedia.

Presenting a biased view of immigration and nationalism: One video argues that Europe is “committing suicide” by allowing mass immigration, according to Wikipedia.

So conservative views of the present are somehow “lies about history.” Now back to the music argument, that whites “can invent anything,” including music:

They can’t originally invent anything more than they ever were able to invent good music. We black folk gave y’all country music, hip hop, R&B, jazz, rock and roll. They couldn’t even invent that, but they have to call a white man “the King” [Elvis Presley]. Because they couldn’t make rock and roll, so they have to stamp “the King” on a man whose main song was stolen from an overweight black woman.

You ain’t nothing but a hound dog. Think about the lyrics. Why would a man, you ain’t nothing but a hound dog lying all the time. That’s a song a woman sings about a man. He stole that song and made it a hit because he couldn’t invent rock and roll. Even the Beatles knew that. They were like, we’re not, we didn’t invent this shit, we’re singing black people’s music. The Stones admitted it.

Presley, the Beatles, and the Stones all honored black musicians who inspired their music. We can admit that in the 1950s and 1960s, white people would be more successful across the country doing a cover of a black person’s song. But Joy turned the whole argument into a cartoon about “cultural appropriation,” without admitting that music composers borrow from all kinds of traditions and predecessors.

It’s painfully obvious that if a white radio or TV host went on a splenetic rant about how blacks “can’t originally invent anything” on a show titled “Mediocre Black People and Their Fragility Are Destroying America,” they would be much more notorious than Joy.

It shouldn’t be missed that Joy then complained “we’re raising an America that is mediocre on purpose, because we don’t want to tell Donald Trump that he is a fucking failure. But he is.” Ali gushed: “you all just got taken to church by Sunday school teacher Joy-Ann Reid.”

Dear Joy, about the failure thing: One of you just got elected to a second term as president. The other one is a fired MSNBC host.
