Ever since 2013 the IDF has been tracking Anas Al-Sharif masquerade as a “journalist” working for Al Jazeera, accumulating evidence of his role as a Hamas terrorist. Al Jazeera, of course, is owned by Qatar, the main financial supporter of Hamas, which also provides refuge to Hamas leaders, now living in luxury in Doha. Al Jazeera staff may be assumed to be linked to Hamas, and the IDF has been finding the evidence proving Al-Sharif’s membership in Hamas, and his role in directing rocket fire at Israeli military and civilian targets. Now Al Jazeera claims to to be outraged at the killing of Anas Al-Sharif and several other journalists who were in the Al-Jazeera tent on the grounds of the Al-Shifa Hospital. And of course many others, without bothering to examine the evidence assembled by the IDF that prove beyond a doubt Al-Sharif’s role in Hamas, are outraged at what they wrongly call “Israel’s killing of journalists.” Al-Sharif was a terrorist posing as a journalist. More on his masquerade as a journalist and his more important role as a Hamas operative can be found here: “Israeli military kills Hamas terrorist doubling as Al Jazeera reporter near Shifa Hospital,” Jerusalem Post, August 11, 2025:
The IDF killed Anas Al-Sharif, a Hamas terrorist who also worked as an Al Jazeera correspondent inside the Gaza Strip, on Sunday, the military announced.
He was reportedly killed along with five other individuals, including a second reporter, Mohammed Qreiqeh, according to Al Jazeera. Three cameramen were killed as well, according to the Qatari site, named as Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal, and Moamen Aliwa.
Al-Sharif was responsible for advancing rocket attacks and had served as a member of Hamas ever since 2013, the IDF said.
Documents shared by the IDF included personnel rosters, lists of terror training courses, phone directories, and salary documents for Al-Sharif.
“Prior to the strike, steps were taken to mitigate harm to civilians, including the use of precise munitions, aerial surveillance, and additional intelligence,” the statement also shared.
According to the Qatari network, their staff were killed in the strike near the Shifa Hospital.
Al-Sharif posted on social media minutes before being targeted, with an X/Twitter post saying that “bombings had been going on for the last two hours.”
Al Jazeera said Al Sharif had left a social media message to be posted in the event of his death that read, .”..I never hesitated to convey the truth as it is, without distortion or misrepresentation, hoping that God would witness those who remained silent.”
Al Sharif was previously part of a Reuters team that in 2024 won a Pulitzer Prize in the category of Breaking News Photography for coverage of the Israel-Hamas war.
Journalists’ groups and Al Jazeera denounced the killings.
A press freedom group and a UN expert previously warned that Al Sharif’s life was in danger due to his reporting from Gaza. “UN Special Rapporteur Irene Khan said last month that Israel’s claims against him were unsubstantiated,” the agency informed.
Gaza is full of journalists malevolently misreporting on Israel; they are left alone by the IDF to spread their poison. But Anas Al-Sharif was quite different. He was a Hamas member, as the terror groups membership rolls, salary records, and lists of Hamas courses he had taken, all prove. A photograph of a smiling Anas Al-Sharif being embraced by Yahya Sinwar, the head of Hamas in Gaza and the mastermind of the October 7, 2023 attack, is further evidence of his link to Hamas.
In fact, the IDF has had Anas Al-Sharif its sights for years, but with heightened attention since last October. His killing was not timed to coincide with Israel’s new offensive in Gaza City. The IDF was waiting only for the last bit of conclusive evidence that showed his role in Hamas, and then, having acquired it, was ready to act.
The IDF failed to provide any evidence to back up its allegations against Anas al-Sharif? What does Sara Qudah think of the evidence that the IDF has made available to the public? Has she even looked at it? The IDF now has in its possession. Hamas rosters of its members, including Anas Al-Sharif, lists of salaries paid to Hamas staff, including Anas Al-Sharif and lists of those who completed Hamas courses, including Anas Al-Sharif. Those now outraged by his killing should be asked what they make of all this evidence now made public by the IDF proving Al-Sharif’s role as a Hamas member.
Anything? Nothing?
