Everyone in D.C. Knows It Needs Help

Crime denial is up there with economy denial and senility denial. It’s a dumb argument that destroys the credibility of those making. But it hasn’t stopped Dems and the media from blasting crime denial in full force even as the National Guard was deployed in D.C. But everyone in D.C. who isn’t on Twitter knows what’s really going on.

Shortly after President Donald Trump announced the federal takeover of the D.C. police department, WTOP spoke with shoppers at Hechinger Mall in Northeast D.C. about their thoughts on the change coming to policing in the District.

“Something needed to be done” was said by nearly every person who agreed to be interviewed on the record and by those who just wanted to share their opinion over the next 90 minutes.

A lot of residents shared stories on how crime in D.C. has affected their lives, from their son’s murder during a carjacking to a group of teenagers slitting the throat of a friend. The manger of 24/7 Best Tobacco & Wireless, which is in the Hechinger Mall, said between 30 and 40 teenagers trashed the store last week and he no longer feels safe working there.

You can’t actually live in D.C. proper and seriously pretend that it’s safe. Not unless you’re trying to prove a political point.

That’s especially true of the black residents of the Districts who live in the most crime-ridden areas and experience violence at ground level, not just the spillover that hits people who work in the government and then commute out of D.C.

The media’s lies lead it to the same dead end as pretending that Biden was fine and that the economy was great.

No one thinks crime is fine. Not unless they live in a rural area where it actually is fine. Urban crime is out of control, but it needs a bigger fix than the National Guard.

The Left spent over a decade dismantling the criminal justice system. Books need to be thrown or crime will continue.
