The late night shows descent into humorless Democrat promotional TV applies even to the guest hosts. On Thursday, actress Nicole Byer wrapped up her week hosting ABC’s Jimmy Kimmel Live! by gushing over a shirtless photograph of former President Obama and referred to him as “that smoke show we shacked up with in college.”
Byer began with a recent poll, “Here’s a totally unsurprising sign of the times. According to a new study, only 33 percent of Americans trust the federal government. The study was conducted by the institute of—our president is a 34-time convicted felon. Boom! Got him again, one last time!”
She continued, “Abraham Lincoln famously said the federal government is ‘of the people, by the people, for the people.’ See, okay. That’s the problem right there. Have you met the people? We suck. And, of course, we have trust issues with our leaders. Back in 2016, we dated this awful guy for four years who cheated on us with a porn star and lied about literally everything, and then we immediately jumped into a relationship with a much, much, much older man who promised to take care of us and then, kind of, just wandered off into the woods.”
Lamenting the return of Donald Trump, Byer rolled on, “So, now we’re back with our terrible ex, and he’s crazier than ever, and we can’t stop fantasizing about that smoke show we shacked up with in college who gave us health care.”
Byer then put up a picture of a shirtless Obama and oozed, “Mmm, yes, we can. Ooh, my goodness. I got distracted there for a second. Back to work.”
And some people think these shows speak truth to power.
