Nate Jackson: NYPD Officer Murdered in Mass Shooting Leaves Behind Pregnant Wife, Two Kids

When a police officer puts on the uniform, he doesn’t know if he’s going to make it home after his shift. Sadly, working his second job as a security guard in a Manhattan office building, New York Police Officer Didarul Islam did not go home to his eight-months-pregnant wife and two young sons last night because a deranged man shot and killed him.

Islam was one of four people, including another security guard, murdered by the assailant, who killed himself after his rampage.

This story has some typical elements of a mass shooting: The attacker was mentally disturbed and ready to die in his assault because of some grievance. He used a semiautomatic rifle that the Leftmedia ubiquitously and wrongly dub an “assault rifle.” He perpetrated his heinous crime in a so-called “gun-free zone.”

It also has an unusual element: The assailant was black, though CNN anchor Erin Burnett was rightly roasted after viewing initial security footage and speculating that he was “possibly white.” Historically, most mass shooters of this variety have been white males, though that’s not always the case.

The killer likely traveled all the way from Las Vegas to target the NFL’s headquarters located in a Manhattan skyscraper. He was reportedly found with a note blaming the NFL for his chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE) after years of playing football in school. Many former NFL players suffer from it, and several have committed suicide.

The note “alluded to having CTE from playing NFL,” said Mayor Eric Adams, even though “he never played in the NFL.” Adams added, “It appears as though he was going after the employees of the NFL.” He ended up taking the wrong elevators to the wrong floor, though one NFL employee was wounded in the initial assault in the lobby.

Sadly, the New York attack wasn’t the only such assault yesterday. Another murderer took the lives of three people outside a hotel and casino in Reno, Nevada, before he was killed by police. That killer used a handgun.

Neither is such violence unique to the United States, as gun-grabbers here would have you believe. At least five were murdered by a now-dead assailant in Bangkok, Thailand, on Monday.

If there’s a silver lining anywhere to be found, it’s that good guys with guns almost always stop these psychotic rampages. Even when the killer takes his own life, it’s because he perceives there’s no other way out.

In Michigan on Saturday, a knife-wielding attacker stabbed 11 people (none fatally) at a Walmart before a concealed carry permit holder stopped him. “The suspect,” reports NBC News, “was subdued by shoppers.” Anything to avoid giving credit to a good guy with a gun — nowhere in the story does NBC mention it.

Derrick Perry, a Marine Corps veteran, was the Good Samaritan in Michigan. “I didn’t think of anything other than trying to get him away from people and get him isolated and get him to put the knife down and just to kind of focus on me instead of everyone that was yelling and screaming in the background,” Perry, a married father of three, told ABC News.

Maybe NBC was gun-shy in this case because Perry is black.
