Fool around and find out. That’s the sanitized version of the social media slogan going around these days, and it applies this time to the mayors of sanctuary cities.
Tom Homan, the former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), is the man Donald Trump tapped to serve as his border czar. To say he’s an upgrade over Joe Biden’s border czar, Kamala Harris, might be the understatement of the year. Homan isn’t just playing a border czar on TV, and if Democrat mayors or governors insist on fooling around, they’re going to find out.
Illegals “better start packing now,” Homan told the Republican National Convention last summer. Just after the election, he warned Democrats, “If you’re not going to help us, get the hell out of the way because we’re going to do it.” He wasn’t kidding. ICE raids have been an increasingly regular feature across the country. The focus first was on rounding up thousands of illegal alien gang members and criminals. It expanded to more generally detaining and deporting illegals. It’s all part of the Trump administration’s phenomenal effort to effectively close the border and clean up the Biden/Harris border crisis.
The enforcement is why tens of thousands of illegals have self-deported.
After the shooting of an ICE agent last week, Homan is even more serious. Yesterday, he gave a clear message to the leaders of sanctuary jurisdictions: “Sanctuary cities are sanctuaries for criminals. … Sanctuary cities are now our priority. We’re gonna flood the zone. You don’t want to let us in the jail to arrest the bad guy in the safety and security of a jail. You want to release them into the street, which makes it unsafe for the community, makes it unsafe for the officer, makes it unsafe for the alien because anything can happen on a street arrest. … So, sanctuary cities get exactly what they don’t want — more agents in the community and more agents in the worksite.”
It’s pretty simple, isn’t it?

That one agent wasn’t the only one assaulted — by an illegal who was caught and released in 2023 by Team Biden, by the way. Attacks on ICE agents are up 830% since Trump’s inauguration.
“There’s absolutely zero reason that someone who is scum of the earth like this should be running loose on the streets of New York City,” said Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of the alien who shot the ICE agent. “Make no mistake, this officer is in the hospital today, fighting for his life, because of policies of the mayor of this city and the [New York] City Council.” Eric Adams was arguably on the Biden administration’s crap list because he criticized its open border policies. Now he’s on Team Trump’s list for paying little more than lip service to the Rule of Law.
Not that he’s taking any responsibility for it. Instead, he’s passing the buck. “I have nothing to do with the rules that are put in place,” he said, which is technically accurate since the city council sets the policy. He offered that he’s willing to help “go after dangerous people like this individual,” but he doesn’t want law enforcement going after “everyday individuals who are trying to complete the path to be a citizen.”
If they came here illegally, there should be no path to citizenship. Only a path back to their home country.
New York City isn’t the only focus for Team Trump. Los Angeles, of course, was the site of some deportation raids followed by violent protests. Mayor Karen Bass downplayed the riots, saying, “Los Angeles is 500 square miles. The disturbances took place in maybe two square miles.”
You like that? “Disturbances.” When local law enforcement failed to adequately protect federal buildings or officers from violent left-wing rioters, Trump deployed the National Guard, as Governor Gavin Newsom had refused to do. He also sent 700 Marines.
Long story short, Newsom sued and lost, but Trump is now removing the Marines. Not before plenty of Democrat hysterics, though.
“This is about all of us,” Newsom opined. “This is about you. California may be first, but it clearly will not end here. Other states are next. Democracy is next. Democracy is under assault before our eyes. This moment we have feared has arrived.”
Translation: Protecting democracy means allowing a foreign invasion and domestic violence.
Remember, this is the same guy who was outraged, not at human trafficking and child labor on a weed farm, but at Trump and the ICE agents who raided the place only to get shot at. That’s probably because the weed farm donated to his campaign.
Fired border czar Kamala Harris weighed in, too. The deployments were a “dangerous escalation meant to provoke chaos,” she complained of deployments that quelled violence. “The administration’s actions are not about public safety; they’re about stoking fear. Fear of a community demanding dignity and due process.”
Dignity and due process happen when people come to our country legally and citizens don’t burn or destroy police cars. Lawless and inflammatory Democrat rhetoric, which inspires law-breaking across the country, is why ICE agents wear masks.
Yet the raids are causing major hardships for the affluent people of LA. Bass gave this emotional picture of what life is now like in the wasteland she leads: “It’s difficult to get your car washed in Los Angeles now because most of the car washes, the employees won’t come to work out of fear that a raid will take place.”
Life sure is hard when you don’t have a slave illegal alien to pick the cotton wash the car.
