The left-leaning media would have you believe that Immigration and Customs Enforcement unjustly targeted hard-working farm workers in California last week.
The story offered was that ICE agents overreacted against a law-abiding business that had hired immigrants, and then further overreacted by shooting tear gas at others exercising their constitutional rights to protest in defense of the immigrants.
The reality is different.
Protesters were not exercising their First Amendment rights last week. They were impeding lawful federal law enforcement activity. They did so by blocking traffic and throwing rocks and water bottles at agents. One local news helicopter even captured an individual firing a gun at ICE agents and the California National Guard.
According to the Department of Homeland Security, 300 illegal immigrants were arrested, 14 minors were recovered, and at least one man with a history of violent crime and attempted child exploitation was taken into federal custody.
This truth is not conducive to the Left’s agenda, however. Thus, the narrative must be changed. Unfortunately for the Left, reality is clear. Democratic-run major cities are being overrun by drug users, cartels, and homelessness. Yet Democratic leaders continue to excuse illegal behavior.
Gov. Gavin Newsom is at the forefront in pursuing faux outrage as he gears up for his 2028 presidential run. He released a statement exclaiming, “Instead of supporting the businesses and workers that drive our economy and way of life, [White House immigration lead] Stephen Miller’s tactics evoke chaos, fear, and terror within our communities… Trump’s agents continue to detain U.S. citizens and racially profile Americans, ripping families apart and disappearing parents and workers into cruel federal detention centers…”
It’s interesting that Newsom has not referenced the illegal and inhumane treatment of trafficked immigrants and children at the facilities ICE has raided. Or that a pedophile was taken off the streets. Newsom’s political problem is that most Americans are experiencing firsthand the dangers of our porous border. Most Americans understand the massive positive impact immigration has on certain industries. Still, we want the law enforced.

Let’s be clear, children should not be smuggled across a national border to provide cheap labor so that tech bros can get their weed.
It’s time the modern day Left started telling the truth, started enforcing our laws, and stopped pedaling unnecessary fear. Let’s advocate for the citizenship and human rights of hard-working, law-abiding immigrants. Let’s not reward or excuse those who willfully and in some cases repeatedly break our laws.
