Re: How Much Money Did You Lose in Social Security?
“Anyone who claims that Social Security is in a ‘lockbox’ is telling a very slick lie. The contributions are invested in U.S. Treasury bonds. So Congress is borrowing those funds and handing recipients an IOU. Now, if I want to loan my retirement savings to anyone, it will be American businesses. If I loan the government my funds, I will end up paying them back, with interest. Taxes, y’know? Who do you think pays the interest on Treasury bills?” —Pennsylvania
“I put money into Social Security and I don’t feel bad about drawing from it now. What I have a problem with is all of the able-bodied men and women sucking money for disability who can work! We have created another form of welfare with the disability program. Everyone needs to contribute to society for it to work. What do we build anymore? Need more hands getting dirty and building greatness. Bringing manufacturing back to the USA will help. PS: Disability for a back ache is not a disability; it’s called a consequence of working hard. Take an Advil and get to work! I did!” —Illinois
“The average annual rate of return on investment for mutual funds over the last 30 years has been well over 6% after inflation. For those who begin working at a young age, the average post-inflation lifetime return on investment for Social Security is -1%. It’s time to stop robbing the workers.” —Minnesota
Re: Musk Ignites Trump Feud Again
“Musk is right, but only on his criticism of our debt and the fact that our politicians created it. The ongoing war between Republicans and Democrats for control of the nation shows Musk’s ‘one-party’ accusation to be BS. But people share his frustration. Our administrations, congresses, and all of their backroom deals and big bills where everyone gets something have undeniably subverted our economy while our productivity vanishes into a black hole. This OBBBA is no exception, even with its good parts.” —North Carolina
“In my opinion, I believe this feud is somewhat staged to allow Musk a chance to gain back the trust and reputation of Musk’s products and adventures. He took a pretty bad karma hit, which trickled down to his loyal followers as Tesla products came under domestic terrorist attacks in anger for his participation in DOGE. I believe Trump and Musk are playing out a script to fix the unjustified attacks on customers’ vehicles. Notice how the attacks on Tesla suddenly stopped? The media has a new cat toy… ‘THE FEUD!’ It has stepped on the tongues of Trump’s Democrat antagonists. In the end, the two of them will be hugging it out and laughing at this.” —Massachusetts
Re: CNN Promotes ICE-Tracking App
“If the development and distribution of an app that has the stated purpose of evading law enforcement and carries the potential for targeting ICE agents is not grounds for obstruction of justice, I don’t know what is. Why is Joshua Aaron not in custody?” —California
“The leftist protesters welcome the ICEBlock app because they see illegals as being oppressed by Republicans. Biden’s Democrat deep-staters didn’t inform the leftist protesters before drawing the illegals into the U.S. They just did it to subvert our electorate and our electoral system. There are millions of instances when our immigration laws were willfully violated. It can’t be considered a mistake or due to incompetence. So we have deep-state malfeasance combined with leftist protestations.” —North Carolina
“Perhaps we need to start labeling some of these people as homegrown terrorists. This action of creating an app to report ICE actions is rather reminiscent of how Germany under Nazi rule told its people to report Jews. Children were told to report their parents to the government for actions non-supportive of the Nazi regime.” —Arizona
Re: Alligator Alcatraz: Bold Immigration Enforcement
“Over the years of Castro’s communist dictatorship, thousands of Cubans risked their lives to sail in homemade boats through shark-infested waters to Florida and freedom. They and their descendants became Americans while infusing some Cuban culture. It is ironic that Florida will be the departure point for illegal aliens from South America, Haiti, Asia, and God knows where else.” —New Hampshire
