Multiple outlets reported the flights based upon publicly available flight tracing data and air traffic control records. A handful of flight trackers on social media have indicated that their likely destination is a U.S. Air Force base in Guam.
The Department of Defense declined to comment to the Washington Examiner when asked to clarify the destination of the planes or provide additional information.
The bombers were reportedly refueled following their initial launch in Missouri, suggesting that they could be loaded with a heavy payload. The B-2 aircraft has a capacity of two 15-ton bunker-buster bombs — weapons experts say could be critical in targeting Iran’s main nuclear site Fordow.
Shifting military assets is not unusual under these circumstances, as such maneuvers give options to presidents and military commanders even if they are not deployed.
