This was the second time this year that Yosemite was targeted by liberal protesters in a massive display. Shortly after President Donald Trump was inaugurated, protesters suspended a giant American flag upside down. The upside-down flag represents a distress message.

Yosemite’s El Capitan peak was the site of the latest demonstration, during which a 55-foot by 35-foot flag was unfurled. Drag queen Pattie Gonia, who explained the demonstration online, was among the protesters.
“We flew the Trans pride flag in Yosemite to make a statement: Trans people are natural and Trans people are loved,” Pattie Gonia said in a post. “Let this flag fly higher than hate. We are done being polite about Trans people’s existence. Call it a protest, call it a celebration — either way, it’s giving elevation to liberation.”
The Washington Examiner reached out to Yosemite and the White House for comment.
Gonia claimed that species change sex, “can be found on every continent and in every ocean on planet earth.” The video flashed a clown fish, implying they are transgender when they are all technically born male because they don’t have sex chromosomes.
A spokesperson for the national park called the flag an “unauthorized display” and told NBC News that “the flag was removed a soon as possible.”

“The National Park Service is conducting an inquiry into the facts and circumstances around this event. We take the protection of our national parks seriously and will not tolerate behavior that undermines their integrity,” the spokesperson said in a statement.
Gonia was the center of National Geographic‘s “Traveler of the Year” list in 2024. The drag queen also had a sponsorship from North Face in 2023.
