FBI Director Kash Patel testifies on White House budget before Appropriations Committee

FBI Director Kash Patel will testify on the 2026 White House budget before the House Committee on Appropriations at around 2 p.m.

The hearing is titled “A REVIEW OF THE PRESIDENT’S FISCAL YEAR 2026 BUDGET REQUEST FOR THE
FEDERAL BUREAU OF INVESTIGATION.” The White House’s budget allocates $10.1 billion to the FBI for salaries and expenses.

“The FBI takes its responsibility of fiscal stewardship seriously and is looking at all available options to optimize existing resources and deliver more efficiently,” Patel’s prepared remarks said. “Over the past two months, we have commenced the process to reallocate hundreds of positions from the National Capital Region out to field offices across the country to enhance investigative capacity and provide better support to Federal, state, local, Tribal, and territorial partners.”
