Re: Black Hawk Pilot Error Among Factors

“As retired AF, I can see the frantic meetings, emails, phone calls, etc. when it was discovered that the pilot in command was female. So 67 people are dead, and saving face is the top priority. God help us if we have a real war.” —New Hampshire

“I believe the overarching question is this: Who decided that training missions should be flown in one of the heaviest air traffic corridors in the country? If a night flight was required on that path, why not schedule it in the middle of the night when civilian traffic is down? The person making that call is the one most at fault for the tragedy.” —New York

“The tower ATC directed a left turn to ensure separation and they were above their designated max altitude, so why did the instructor pilot not shake the stick and take command from her and make the turn himself? Yes, she outranked him by several grades, but the question is valid. Easy for me to ask — I was not 15 seconds from impact.” —Maryland

“Wherever civilian and military aviation are in close proximity to each other, especially when that proximity is to landing patterns at civilian airports, then a qualified military air traffic controller should be in the tower controlling military aircraft operations. Better yet, get these military flights out of the area of this incredibly congested corridor. There is a long record of near-misses.” —California

Re: SCOTUS Takes on EO to End So-Called Birthright Citizenship

“Honest people know the only reason Democrats opened the border is to create a government-dependent voting bloc. The fix is to pass laws that FOREVER DENY citizenship to anyone who entered illegally.” —Nevada

“Amazing collection of documented Democrat quotes regarding illegal immigration. Thanks, Alexander, for exposing the hypocrites for what they are!” —Georgia

“Does anyone know what the word ‘sovereignty’ means today? If you enter this country illegally, you are violating its sovereignty. If you are residing here under the condition of illegality, you are not a citizen. Therefore, why should your children be granted citizenship just because they are born here? The children of my French Canadian forebears who immigrated here in the 19th century only became les citoyens (citizens) after they had become naturalized. And to attain that status, they had to have sponsors. Then, their children became citizens. Much more logical, n’est-ce pas?” —Massachusetts

“Obama and Biden turned what was once our southern border into a sieve, an open entry port for illegals, drugs, and violence to assault our national sovereignty. This was historically unprecedented and will take years, under the best circumstances, to undo.” —Oregon

“As a native-born resident of Martha’s Vineyard, allow me to applaud your coverage of the wealthy leftist hypocrites here. I’ve had a firsthand view of the hypocrisy from those who, despite being ‘wash-ashores,’ seem always to want to run things. Unfortunately, enough of them wind up as our so-called ‘leaders’! The planeloads of ‘migrants’ (illegal alien invaders) sent up here by Gov. Ron DeSantis in a brilliant political maneuver were given the bum’s rush by these hypocrites and sent to Joint Base Cape Cod to become the Cape’s — and ultimately the state’s — problem.” —Massachusetts

Re: As Predicted, Many Universities Are Rebranding, Not Relinquishing, DEI

“If the overarching theme of these institutions is neo-Marxist thought and activism rather than imparting accurate knowledge of history, art, and science in an environment that encourages independent thinking, logic, and philosophy, are they universities anymore? Or have they become overpriced indoctrination camps handing out fraudulent diplomas? It appears that the higher education accreditation organizations are asleep on the job.” —Minnesota

Re: A Democrat Against Democracy

“Just what our republic needs — more AOCs and Hoggs to ruin it! It’s like we are competing for dumb or dumber people to represent us in America. Bartenders, community activists, high schoolers, and hippies have figured out a way to make money doing nothing but being influencers in Washington, DC.” —Illinois

Re: The Long Knives Are Out for Hegseth

“Remember Burt Lance? He was a banker and named by Jimmy Carter to be manager of OMB. In 1978, William Safire wrote an article in The New York Times about mismanagement and corruption at a Georgia bank run by Vance. He resigned his OMB job. In 1980, a jury acquitted him on nine counts and did not decide two others. By the way, Safire and the NYT won a Pulitzer prize for the article.” —New Hampshire

“ I guess it is really difficult to identify the source of leaks. Too bad the most sophisticated intelligence service in the world, according to themselves, can’t do the job that we expect. Anyone know who brought the cocaine to the White House yet?” —Washington

“How did the NYT get the story of Mr. Hegseth’s apparently personal Signal group chat? What evidence do they have that it was used to discuss officially classified topics? Either one of the Pentagon people in the group is a backstabbing tattler, or the NYT has access to highly illegal hacking resources.” —Minnesota

Re: Wednesday Short Cuts

“Al Gore: ‘The Trump administration is insisting on trying to create their own preferred version of reality.’ I guess Gore needed to remind people that he’s still around. It’s a shame that quote broke my streak of probably a year or more of even thinking about Al Gore, but the long streak of not caring what he thinks continues.” —Georgia

Re: The Illegal Immigration Nightmare

“Leftists love to point to the waves of immigration 150 years ago or even earlier, when our nation had no particular framework of laws controlling immigration. The difference they overlook is that until the 1960s or later, there was no huge and expensive system of public benefits for U.S. citizens, to which illegal aliens are now availing themselves; those who came did so with the understanding that they would have to make their own way. Rigorously cutting off illegal aliens from public benefits would both save money and cause many to ‘self-deport’ (as would vigorously enforcing laws against employment of illegals). We can take a more reasoned approach to what to do about productive aliens after we’ve weeded out the rest.” —Georgia

Re: DEI Is Ruining Education, and Trump Is Trying to Fix It

“President Trump was duly elected president of these United States. The people spoke loudly. However, it seems as though the election was seen as something we do every four years as a matter of tradition rather than a means of electing a person to fulfill the wants and needs of our country. The judges are in charge. There is no doubt about it. I have an idea: Divide the country into, say, nine territories, and then appoint a judge (ruler) for each territory. I haven’t worked out a procedure to appoint those rulers as of yet, but I’m sure someone will come out of the woodwork. Maybe Putin? C’mon, folks. Help me out. I can’t think of everything.” —West Virginia

Re: Thursday: Below the Fold

“An immediate shipment of Javelin and Stinger missiles to Ukraine might encourage Putin to serious negotiations. He understands that sort of thing, as it helped Russia’s departure from Afghanistan in 1991.” —Kentucky
