CNN’s Exposure Is an Example of Why Old Media Ecosystem Is Collapsing

“That’s not satire, that’s CNN,” Greg Gutfeld noted in the opening monologue of his Fox News show Wednesday, explaining how legacy media can no longer get away with dishonesty like the liberal network’s false characterization of the recent ISIS-inspired New York terrorist attack.

While peppered with his usual comedic barbs, the Gutfeld! host’s monologue provided serious observations, using CNN’s portrayal (for which it was roundly mocked and condemned) of the two Islamist terror suspects as innocent teenagers, as an example of how the legacy media attempt to deceive the public:

“Notice the framing, the instinct that says: ‘Before we tell the public what happened, we have to shape how they feel about it.’”

….

“Like the terrorism just happened to the terrorists. They were just at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

“But, journalists don’t do this by accident,” Gutfeld explained:

“Somebody in that newsroom decided the story needed a rewrite to help the bomb throwers.”

“So, who did they think would buy this?,” he asked:

“It makes you wonder who exactly is CNN’s audience.”

“So, here’s the bigger story: the old media ecosystem is collapsing like a presidential palace in Tehran,” Gutfeld said.

The legacy media are no longer the public’s sole source of information, so it’s easier to tell when they’re lying, Gutfeld said:

“When CNN was the gatekeeper, no one could challenge the narrative. They wrote the story, Anderson [Cooper] put on his apron and served it to the public. But, now we’re quickly blowing holes in it like Bud Light cans stacked in Kid Rock’s back yard.”

“And you can thank Musk for buying Twitter,” Gutfeld said, noting how social media platforms now allow the free flow of facts debunking false media narratives:

“Remember the old line, ‘A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its boots.’

“Now, the lie barely gets out of bed before we put a boot up its ass.”

“When CNN Turns Terrorists into Tragic Tourists,” Gutfeld labeled a video of his monologue posted on Twitter (now known as X.com).
