Immigration enforcement and border security, the Biden administration insisted, don’t work. Instead, Kamala was dispatched to tackle the “root causes” of the invasion. The root causes have turned out to be their own open borders policies.
The numbers are in and invading America is out.
U.S. Border Patrol encounters with migrants crossing into the United States from Mexico have fallen to their lowest level in more than 50 years, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of statistics from the federal government.
The Border Patrol recorded 237,538 encounters with migrants at the U.S.-Mexico border in the 2025 fiscal year, which began in October 2024 and ended in September 2025. That was down from more than 1.5 million encounters in fiscal 2024, more than 2 million in fiscal 2023 and a record of more than 2.2 million in fiscal 2022. The 2025 total was the lowest in any fiscal year since 1970, according to historical data from the Border Patrol.
Obviously a quarter of a million people is still way too many and we should not accept that as any kind of satisfactory bottom low. The numbers are likely to improve in FY 2026 for obvious reasons because the last fiscal year included the period of the Biden administration and it took time for Trump’s policies to roll out and be felt, but this should not make us grow complacent about the invasion. We still need real border security especially because these numbers may not be fully reflective of the full scale of the invasion.
Remember that the Biden administration turned the Border Patrol into coyotes. Illegal invaders cheerfully turned themselves in to get a free ride. That’s why the number of encounters was so high. The average invader is no longer looking to encounter border patrol personnel, but to sneak through undetected, and while the urban immigration enforcement is vital, I don’t know what impact it’s having on border security.
What these numbers do show is the sheer effectiveness of messaging. The Biden administration sent the message that America was open while the Trump administration has been loudly yelling the opposite. Migrants who used to make videos about how easy it is to come to America now have the misguided sense that any illegal alien is going to be put in chains and shipped to a prison in El Salvador. The same propaganda that allows the media to paint Trump as cruel and harsh tells migrants not to bother coming.
